Graham and Gunny

Graham has been begging for a pony forever.  On Christmas, he was surprised with his first pony (technically miniature horse) whom he named Gunny.  Are they a cute pair or what?

This week….

Ty:  Mommy why do you love me so much?  Is it because I am cute?

I attempted a long winded explanation of all his amazing qualities but after 10 seconds noticed he had drifted elsewhere.  🙂

Tori is saying “I don’t know” a lot.  She says “I oh no”.  She figured out how to climb up my bathroom drawers by curling her toes around the ledges and using them as steps.  I have caught her opening my contact lens case and pretending to put lenses in her eyes, brushing her teeth with the water running, and this morning she took all my makeup brushes, wet them, and then painted her face.  I bought plastic doorknobs to make opening the bathroom door more difficult but now can’t remember to shut it!

No Worries

Ahhhhh!!!  A week and no posts!  🙂  All is well – no worries.  I am just way way way behind and I guess I need a longer blog break than I thought.  I have several things going on right now keeping me from adding my blog to my To Do list.  I will get back in the swing of things eventually but I suspect it will be a while before I am back up to my normal blog habits so I’ll be hit and miss for a bit.  I have some client pictures to show but other than that, I have hardly even picked up my camera lately (and I miss her).

This week has been filled with the usual busy-ness plus some.  Tori broke her front tooth and we ended up in the dentists office for four hours this week and they made her a crown.  I was horrified that she was going to lose the tooth or end up snaggle toothed.   You can just imagine how well THAT went over with her after all her other medical experiences this month.  Poor poor baby.

I have her birthday and Ty’s party scheduled for Sunday and I need to get shopping but we are expecting 65 mph winds this afternoon and more storms (which is a big deal for us Phoenix people) so looks like it will be a chaotic weekend since I don’t plan on even getting out of jammies at this point.   Ahhhh well…such is life.

James Cameron – YOU ROCK!

A few years back I mentioned to Jim that I found it disappointing that every alien movie always seemed to center on aliens coming to earth.  Why couldn’t WE ever be the aliens on a foreign planet?  Sure, there are a few exceptions but none really developed the kind of plot and culture of another world to my liking.  (I did enjoy the cable series Earth 2 as hokey as it was).  🙂

About 18 months ago Jim told me that my dream was going to come true because James Cameron was working on a movie that Jim felt would satisfy my wish list.

Tonight we went on a date and saw it in 3D at the IMAX (AMC Deer Valley 30).

IT WAS AWESOME!!!!   AWESOME AWESOME!  Hands down my favorite sci-fi fantasy movie to date!  And seeing it in 3D on an IMAX screen was pure icing.  I had trouble adjusting the first five minutes but I got over it and then I never wanted to see a two dimensional movie again.  You just HAVE to watch in 3D.

I loved the characters, the colors, the creativity, the plot, the heart…for me, it was full package.   Absolute eye candy.  There were several scenes that I just sat in wonder and awe taking it in.

It was spiritually moving to me as well.  This might be hard to convey but I’ll attempt…

From a spiritual perspective, the movie has a very New Age/Green typical Hollywood slant to it.  However, I still connected with the depth of conviction that the Naavi (probably spelling that wrong) had for their “God”.   I also couldn’t help but wonder if Father smiles when he watches the way his creation creates.  He is the master creator and we were created in HIS image so I imagine He gets much delight in our creative expression (okay – grant it – I think He would prefer the credit for it as opposed to an alien Goddess but it WAS make believe 🙂 ).

The other element that made it fun for me is that I don’t consider myself an “earth bound” person.   I often wonder and dream about my real life.   The life where I will spend eternity with my Father.  I can’t even imagine what the real deal will be like and it’s fun to think outside the box.  To wonder if food will be tastier, if colors will be brighter or if there will be a world of light and color opened up to us that we can’t fathom today.   If Heaven is just behind the veil from us, then hmmmmm…does it defy the dimensions of our own world?  Don’t you ever think about these things or is this just another one of my strange idiosyncricies?

At any rate…after a frustrating week as a SAHM where I cried teaching school two days in a row…it was a MUCH NEEDED mini vacation to another world.

I wouldn’t recommend it as a children’s movie due to some violence and some language but I plan on seeing it twice in 3D.  I want to see it again!!!!!  Once wasn’t enough for me.  🙂

Amanda and Arlo

Meet my friend Amanda and Brooke’s horse Arlo.  Arlo is famous now (he was in the Rose Bowl Parade this month you know)  🙂 .

I did a family shoot for Amanda on Sunday at Dan and Brooke’s little Suchawee Ranch.  Daniel and I were having a good ole’ time posing Amanda and the horse at the end of the shoot.  Amanda was far more cooperative than Arlo but hey – he got me this picture which I love so I owe him an apple.

This is the only picture I have processed so far and wanted to give Amanda a quick peek.  More later in the week of the whole fam…

Tori Update

The urologist had no clue.  No clue at all.  They decided against anymore testing because the tests left to do are all invasive and since she seems to be feeling better they felt it best to wait her out a bit.  Yesterday she was wet when I got her up and again this morning so maybe her routine is being re-established.  The urologist did suggest that her patterns may have been wonky due to having her bladder stretched out so significantly the week before.  Who knows.

They said that if she was still “off” and her routines “off” by next week, they would want her to see a neurologist.  Apparently, when children grow, OCCASIONALLY (and I think this is very rare), the nerve bundles at the base of the spine can be damaged.  Some of these nerves control the bladder.   I can only imagine the risk it would put her in to attempt to “fix” nerves at the base of the spinal column!!!!  No one really speculates that is the issue (and I certainly don’t think it is) – just an idea thrown out there.

She has seemed a bit happier the last couple of days so we are hoping that this really was just a fluke.  I heard her belly laughing today and went to investigate and found her in the back basket of her little pink three wheeler while Graham was peddling her around the house.  It was an accident waiting to happen but she thought it quite glorious.

Tonight when I told her it was bed time she ran off down the hall and disappeared on me.  I found her snuggled all cozy on Ty’s bed with her head on his pillow.  She keeps trying to get us to agree to let her go to sleep in Ty’s room.  Can you imagine what chaos THAT would be?  She loves Ty.

Unfortunately for Ty though, like Tanner, Tori has discovered that Ty is an easy target.

Grandpa Peter brought Tori this bear with a sunflower around his head while she was in the hospital.  It plays a sunshine song.  Tori really likes it.  For reasons we can’t explain though, Ty is reacting to the sunshine bear like he used to the Glo Worm.  Remember that?  He was crying his little heart out over the bear and asking me to throw it away and telling me he hated it (and I believed him).  Tori, ever observant, thought the reaction interesting.  She then got a hold of the bear and started saying “Tyyyyyy….Tyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy”.  Naughty little thing.  The bear has been put away out of Tanner and Tori’s reach so they won’t torment their brother.    I have no idea why he is so bothered by some toys.  I used to think the connection was visual and auditory combination but that theory was trashed long ago.  I can’t find the connection.

New Website

For those of you who visited my business website yesterday – thank you!  I have one question for you though, on the Sessions page – was it obvious to you that you needed to use the right bars to scroll down and then the arrow to get to additional sections?  I put a note about that so hopefully that made it clear.

Off to bed now.
