This is the kind of subject that creeps my mother out, but have you ever watched a baby interact with “someone” when no one was there? I am pretty convinced that babies see angels. Now before I go any further with this, understand that this is only an opinion and it is supported NO where in scripture. I am not making a doctrinal case of this…just pondering. Angels are most certainly defended in scriptures but as for whether or not babies see them….?<\/p>\n
Lately, I have been watching Ty smile into the air and reach for things that are not there. Yesterday I was reading a book on the couch while he was in the playpen and watched him laughing and laughing at “someone”. It looked like Jim was hiding in the hall and kept playing peek a boo with Ty. I was so certain this was the case that I walked into the hall to catch Jim in the act. No one was there. Ty would watch the hall with anticipation, then giggle and laugh, then quiet and watch with anticipation again. This happened several times over until I was nearly freaked out. My aunt described similar incidents to me when my cousin was little and she was always convinced that babies could see angels. Ty is making a believer out of me too.<\/p>\n
Biting<\/strong><\/p>\n Well it looks like we have a biter on our hands. I have 5 bruises on my left arm from this. He starts out blowing raspberries and then somewhere in the middle, when I am least suspecting it, he bites. One would suggest I am sure that I ought not let him blow raspberries on me. Yes that would make sense but it is really cute and he only actually bites a small percentage of the time so I have been taking the risk. He almost bit Sweetie this week too. She let him play on her piano (which he LOVED) and when she tried to pull him away from it he tried to bite her. I think there really is a “Cooba Cabra”…his name is Ty Jordan:):).<\/p>\n Crawling<\/strong><\/p>\n Ty is now crawling about 70% of the time and army crawling only 30%. We are making definite progress!<\/p>\n Singin’<\/strong><\/p>\n Speaking of his love for music…yes my little darling still loves to be sung to. This trick has been a lifesaver. I can’t tell you how many times I have calmed and soothed him with singing. Last night he couldn’t fall asleep and kept talking in bed. I told Jim “I know how to solve this”. I sang Ty’s song and he instantly quieted. He was asleep by the end. Here are the words to Ty’s favorite song…(posted for Sweetie).<\/p>\n Hush Little Baby (to the tune of “Hush Little Baby”:):)<\/p>\n Hush, little baby, don’t you cry, Mama’s gonna show you the evening sky.<\/p>\n When the night time shadows fall, Mama’s gonna hear the cricket’s call, when their song drifts from afar, Mama’s gonna show you a shooting star.<\/p>\n When that star fades from our view, Mama’s gonna read a book to you.<\/p>\n When that story has been read, Mama’s gonna get you a warm bed spread.<\/p>\n If that quilt begins to wear, Mama’s gonna bring you your teddy bear.<\/p>\n If that teddy bear won’t hug, Mama’s gonna catch you a lightning bug.<\/p>\n If that lightning bug won’t glow, Mama’s gonna to play on her old banjo.<\/p>\n If that banjo’s out of tune, Mama’s gonna show you the harvest moon.<\/p>\n As the moon drifts through the sky, Mama’s gonna sing you a lullaby.<\/em><\/p>\n Teeth<\/strong><\/p>\n Ty broke his 7th tooth through on Monday, May 2nd. It was his bottom left lateral incisor. His bottom right lateral incisor is about ready to come through as well.<\/p>\n Good Job<\/strong><\/p>\n Ty loves affirmation and loves to clap over everything. One morning last week he woke up in his crib and starting calling for Tanner. He was saying “Ta Ta”. I looked at him and said “Good Job Ty. Your calling Tanner’s name.” The second I said good job, he dropped to his bottom and started clapping. Too cute. He does this all the time. Even if I say “Good Job” to someone on the phone, he assumes his position and claps.<\/p>\n Head Banging<\/strong><\/p>\n Worse this week. He seems to be banging his head when he is (a) over stimulated (b) tired or (c) mad. I caught him pounding his head on the floor when he was tired and also pounding it on the wall when he was sleepy. Two other times, he pounded his head on my arm because he was angry. Hope he outgrows this soon.<\/p>\n BHS<\/strong><\/p>\n Seems to have been better this week. Still doing it but we have caught him early each time so no near blue spells.<\/p>\n Eating<\/strong><\/p>\n He ate some fresh peas this week and dehydrated baby corn and corn pops. Still not eating much but I am glad he even attempted these items. I don’t think he has had a full jar of baby food all week though. He is turning his head and clamping his mouth shut refusing.<\/p>\n Attention<\/strong><\/p>\n Ty’s PT is concerned over his short attention span. It is all she can do to get him to be still long enough to concentrate on one toy. She suspects we are going to have an issue with this. I suspect she is right.<\/p>\n Pulmonology Apptmnt<\/strong><\/p>\n Yeah! We no longer have to see the pulmonologist unless WE schedule a necessary visit. Ty has not had any lung issues for such a long period of time that we were able to end this routine visit. Big step! We will be sending his oximeter back soon. I have not used it much because he is too active to sleep with it on so I can only use it to spot check. His last visit was last Wed.<\/p>\n Neuro Appmnt<\/strong><\/p>\n Ty’s neurologist again called him a miracle. He see’s NO sign at his point of cerebral palsy and can’t believe how good Ty looks. He also advised against CPR for the BHS issue. He said that from his experience (and he has been in practice many years…close to retirement I would guess)…he has never had a child have a life threatening issue because of BHS. The biggest problem is if they hit their head when they fall. He said that even if Ty does have a seizure that it isn’t an epileptic seizure and he will not suffer any long term damage from it. He also said that it generally peaks at about 18 months so we have a bit to go. <\/p>\n Favorite Word<\/strong><\/p>\n Ty’s favorite word lately (other than Ma Ma:):)) seems to be “Na Na Na”. He say’s “No” when he is doing something he isn’t supposed to (large portion of his day) and when he is not happy because someone is interrupting his well thought out plans. You can just watch his scheming in action. He keeps me sooooo busy!!!<\/p>\n Loving My Boys<\/strong><\/p>\n The last couple of weeks I have felt so overwhelmed with this rush of emotion for my kids. I always feel in love with them of course but lately it has been almost breath taking. I try so hard to take every opportunity to tell them how much I love them, and cuddle, and kiss them but lately they are both probably sick to death of my gushing. I look at them and can’t believe they are mine. Can’t believe that I have the privilege and blessing of them. Can hardly even believe they are real sometimes. It doesn’t seem possible to love any deeper than I love them. I cuddled on the couch with them last night and kept tickling both of their backs. Their precious little bodies snuggled up against mine and their sleepy little expressions…those are the memories that will last a lifetime. There is NOTHING on earth more rewarding…nor more significant….nor more profound…than moments like those. No success could ever equal the fraction of moments being a mommy. This is what I always wanted to be – a mamma.
