TANNER
Let’s see???Tanner is 12 weeks into his junior year of high school now.?? Time is flying too fast.?? He is playing soccer and doing archery still.?? Also hunting and fishing with Papa more this year.?? His last dove hunting trip he gave Papa and Dusty a run for their money.?? I think he shot about 8 dove.?? He also bought a fish tank this summer with his own money.?? He put a bass from Bartlett Lake in it and named him Jaws but that ended up being too labor intensive since Jaws was a carnivore and ate every other fish we put in the tank (except one blue gill).?? He has been driving a little more independently – going to soccer games or practice on his own occasionally or running to the store or circle K for me.?? He spends a lot of time on the computer.?? He plays mainly MineCraft and Overwatch with Noah.?? He is about 5 feet 9 inches now – his legs are longer than Jim’s though.?? I wasn’t sure if he was going to dress up for Halloween but the night before decided to be a dark storm trooper and worked on his costume himself.

On Halloween night, Tori was tucked in bed and we were reading Jesus Calling for Kids together.?? The devotion was centered on hearing the Holy Spirit.?? This led to a lengthy discussion between the two of us about how God speaks to our hearts.?? She was asking me if I hear God audibly and mentioned that she knew that Moses did because he heard God speak through a burning bush.?? I explained to her how I hear God and talked to her about how and why things were different before and after Jesus came.?? The night before the devotion was on Jesus as the Good Shepherd and how the sheep know his voice.?? I explained that as we get to know God more and more, we recognize his voice when he speaks.?? She then explained that she can relate to that because she usually knows what I am going to say because of how well she knows me (and that is true???she does predict accurately my words on a lot of topics LOL).?? Anyhow, after discussing this for awhile she says, “Mom???you know how I have been asking you about being baptized for the last month??? Well you know how it was about a month ago that Troy was locked in the car and we all gathered and prayed and then instantly Troy got the door open????? That is when I actually knew that God DOES show up for us and that is when I decided I wanted to be baptized.”
I nearly cried on the spot.?? God used such a scary moment in my life in such a beautiful way for my child.?? Just.?? Wow.?? And now???my girl knows her reason.?? She made a choice to be baptized because HE convinced her.?? God did.?? He convinced her that He is a God who shows up.?? (That story is in the August 2017 entry).
Beth Simpson wants to be baptized too so I called Kristi and we are going to try to work out a Sunday morning baptismal in December and then have lunch with our combined tribe.
TROY
This summer while camping with our friends and family, Troy developed quite an attachment to our very long time friend “Caffy”.?? He discovered that she has a prayer necklace with a single prayer tucked inside.?? He thought it would be great if she would pray for him and wanted HIS name in her necklace.?? She obliged.?? She recently told me that he may graduate from high school before she takes his name out LOL.?? He loves to sit on her lap on Sunday mornings and just make sure his name is still in there.
Ty at the AZ state fair – he won at the price is right game and was given a Fry’s Gift Card for 10 bucks.
Someteddy has been wearing his costume since August.?? He even wore it to bed one night.
