Doesn’t Seth look just like his mama?

Let’s talk about “the” hair for a moment shall we?? I first fell in love with it and 16.? I was walking behind her on campus.? She had it french braided and was wearing a piano keys scarf around her neck.? Shock and awe at first site.? How on earth could hair be that perfect and thick?? The above picture to the left is cute and all but I really wanted you to see the back of it.? All natural curl too.? 8th world wonder IMHO.? ๐Ÿ™‚

AZ sunsets make me happy.

And what were MY children doing during this shoot?

Shocking I know.

  1. 8th wonder… too cute sister. ๐Ÿ™‚ you are my biggest fan next to my mama when it comes to hair. ๐Ÿ™‚ hee hee…

kathy – i am so bad at trying all sorts of things – but i always come back to citreshine’s serum. it’s one of the least expensive clear serums out there – find at walmart, walgreens, target or wherever – sometimes the grocery store. i use TONS of it on my hair. holds the curl from frizzing out while still leaving it soft. curly hair tends to be more coarse and dry so for me, it doesn’t get a greasy feeling to overuse it. for someone with silky straight or smooth soft or fine hair, it might.

if i want more of a tight curl with some crispy/wet look to it, i will do the citreshine all through it but then use a pump or two of curls rock (by bedhead). i have so much hair and it’s so expensive that i only use that once in while – but it is good stuff.

a few others i’ve used and thought were good:
    artec smoothing serum
    sebastian potion 9
jessicurl (check out their website – you might try the travel size package deal – nice and natural products – smell good too!)

i have started to really like more natural cleansers for my hair but play around with brands too often. i do know that i do NOT like suave or herbal essences… at the very least, the most important part is the condition. i do always end up back with citreshine for conditioner too. it’s harder to find even though you can get their styling products in walmart and other stores. loreal’s new conditioner isn’t bad though – i don’t know what it’s called but it’s more of a tube than a bottle and there are trendy scents to them. – i think my recent one is almost a fuscia colored tube.

    there. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Oh such a pretty girl!!!! (And yes, Seth looks like his mommy, lucky fellow!) I think Heidi Jo’s hair had no other choice than to be thick and beautiful ’cause her mommy prayed for that ๐Ÿ™‚ That is one of those fun things that God surprises us with when he gives us the desires of our heart – even in a matter that really doesn’t matter…we would love Heidi if she were bald, but her hair does speak of God’s faithfulness more than many realize! Doni you have such a talent for capturing the essense of a person – I love it! Good job!!!!

  3. also forgot to tell kathy that the cut is a HUGE deal for curly hair: NEVER ever ever ever ever and i mean NEVER let someone razor cut your hair or “slither” cut to layer or texturize it they way they do straight hair… i mean NEVER. i found a hair stylist years ago that would layer my hair by taking a section of hair and weaving her scissors in and out of the hair (like she would if she were separating pieces to highlight) and then cut those pieces pulled out instead of doing “notch-cut” texturizing or layering with hair cut at a bit of angle. THAT WAY the pieces cut weren’t slightly altering lengths going from longer to shorter but rather cut in mini-clumps. it means that when styled the curls stick together better and you’ve got less frizz. i found out that some of my biggest frizz concerns were actually CAUSED by stylists cutting my curly hair like straight hair!

  4. aunt beck – you are so right! mimi prayed for it when she was pregnant!

then to think i lost most of it at one point and it grew back curlier than before (i’d had perms in high school to bring the curl back that the length pulled out).

i also think of doni getting a redhead… and then a boy with the longest eye-lashes on the planet… and then her beautiful cocoa baby. ๐Ÿ™‚

me, on the other hand, when i prayed about a baby… well, i got everything i NEVER KNEW i always wanted with seth. ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Thanks, Heidi. I use the citreshine anti-frizz serum too or the slightly cheaper one at Walmart (Zero Frizz I think). I have to use a lot of the product too so it does get to be expensive. I really can’t afford much & I rarely get my hair cut. I know-shame on me but we have to cut costs somewhere.
