Dalen + Michele

Meet Dalen, Michele, Brayden, Brenley, Brooklyn and Ally (the puppy).? My first shoot with a furry creature involved.? 🙂

One of the things I am really enjoying about photography is getting to catch up with friends that I don’t see often.?? It was so nice to get to spend an afternoon with these five.? It seems like yesterday when Brooke talked me into letting my 7 month old baby boy Tanner spend the night with her (his FIRST night anywhere) so that she and Daniel could take him with them when they spent the day with Dalen, Michele and Brayden (Tanner and Brayden are just a few months apart).

Before the “Family Shoot” season began, I must admit to some hesitation.? The majority of my business so far has been focused on little ones so I wondered how “out of my element” I would feel doing several family shoots.? As it turns out, I am really enjoying it.? :)?? My style preference for a family shoot is to try to capture a wide range of relationships.? Family together, individual kids, siblings, sisters, brothers, Dad and girls, Mom and boys, Dad and Mom….etc.? It’s really fun to mix it up like that and the end result feels like the capture of a day I think.

When Michele wanted some “candid” shots, I reminded her that few shots are every “truly” candid.? When they are, we tend to call them “snapshots” because they typically have several undesirable elements involved like heads in front of faces, blinks, unflattering poses, etc.? Sometimes though, you can let a scene play out and low and behold – the moment occurs.
