Don’t Want Ta To Dat

So what has Mr. Tanner been up to this week?

On discipline

Tanner has a very tender conscience and generally speaking, giving him instructions once will do the trick.  I have thought it precious this week when each time I have said "Tanner, you may not ever do blah blah blah and if you do, your consequence will be blah blah blah".  Each time Tanner’s reply is "I don’t want ta do DAT!"  LOL!  I love that he is learning to evaluate cause and effect.

On compassion

Don’t you just treasure those moments with your kids when you watch them take selfless little steps in their behavior?  Every morning Tanner demands that I hurry and make is shake (chocolate milk).  Each morning I have to tell him that I need to get Ty’s bottle and then I’ll make his shake.  He usually is not thrilled about this hierarchy of events.  This morning I was talking to Ty as I walked down the hall and I said "Ty, mommy is going to change your diaper and then make Tanner’s shake."  Tanner heard me say this and called to me down the hall and said "Mommy.  Ty is hungweee".  He decided on his own to put baby brother first this morning and it warmed mommy’s heart.

Spilling…

Tanner wanted mac and cheese this week for lunch.  At one point, he spilled mac and cheese all over the floor.  He looked up at me and said "Don’t worry mommy!  It be shine." (fine). LOL!

The Grumps

Yesterday Tanner woke up grumpy grumpy grumpy (which is rare).

I said "Hey, did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed?"

He said "NO!  I woke up on your shore!" (Tanner, in the early morning, leaves his bed and sleeps on the floor at the foot of our bed like a little puppy).

I said "I mean did you wake up grumpy this morning?"  He said, "Mommy!  I got a big one!"

"You got a big what", I said.

He replied, "I got a big grumpy!"
