TORI

Graduated to Level 2 gymnastics and that made her happy.

Ty had an appointment with Dr. Cassidy this morning.?? Got new prescription but for second year in a row Dr. Cassidy said we didn’t have to fill it if he is okay in his glasses.?? Not a whole lot of changes at this point.?? I did tell him though that Troy was crossing more during allergy season and he said to patch his right eye 2 to 3 times a day for 10 minutes each.

TROY

At 7:00 AM he came into my bathroom to go potty.?? I said, “Good Morning Troy!”?? He says, “No I am just going potty!”?? LOL.?? In other words, I am not getting up.?? I totally get it.

On the way home from archery I hear Tori saying, “Stop!?? Stop!?? STOP!”???? I say, “What ever is going on back there needs to stop!”?? Troy replies with, “This is how you get someone to snap out of it!?? You wave a hand in front of their face!”???? Apparently, he needed his sisters attention.

Troy: Remy kept laying on me and wouldn’t?? get off.

Jim goes into lengthy dialog about what he should have done instead of whining which included MAKING him get off.

Troy: but that would be mean!

I love the way he says “Sure!” when you ask him to do things.?? It’s adorable.

I love the way he follows up a lot of his statements with “Ya”.?? For example, “Mommy the tv in your room isn’t working and I want to watch tv in there???..(pause then he nods his head)???..ya.”

Troy last night was talking to Jim and I heard him say, ???And that is imagination!?? Would you imagine with me dad???? ??? I have no idea what they were talking about but I thought it was adorable.?? I love that dreamer heart.?? People that don???t dream big live smaller lives.?? I always admire those really DREAM because those dreams motivate them towards greatness.?? Daniel and Brooke come to mind on this topic???they are good at pursuing their dreams.?? I think I value safety so I am less inclined to take the risky steps associated sometimes.?? That causes me to keep my scope small but that is not necessarily a good thing ??? it costs me something in the long run I think.

On the way to the party Tori was freaking out because SOMEONE had written a T on the card that Tori had made for Karsyn.?? Troy volunteered that he had done it.?? While Tori admitted to being impressed with his ability to write the letter T she was very unhappy that he had written on her creation.?? Troy then offered, “I am sorry Tori.?? I couldn’t control myself!”???? 🙂

Dermatologist 4/24
I asked him about the ichthyosis.?? He said that Troy has ichthyosis vulgaris which is the mild version of ichthyosis.?? He said that the lines on the bottoms of Troy’s hands and feet and the thickening of his skin on his lower legs are what cemented the diagnosis.?? It is a genetic disease that is usually passed on by a parent and Troy’s children will have a 50% chance of getting it.?? I told him that the best I have ever seen Troy’s skin was after many hours of swimming in chlorinated pools last summer, which I thought odd because I would have thought the chlorine water would have been bad for him.?? He told me that bleach baths (which are chlorine) is actually a TREATMENT for eczema and that some people do very well with that and recommended I do them for Troy.?? He told me to put 1/4 cup of bleach in his bath if half full (1/2 cup of bleach if full tub).?? It will not bleach his hair or cause any problems to face/eyes.?? (Shouldn’t probably drink the water though).?? He said I should do bleach baths twice a week (or more if I want).?? When I am not doing bleach baths, he recommended that I order robathol oil from Amazon and put that in the tub because it will help to keep oils on his skin when he gets out.?? He also said immediately after getting out of the tub (before they are even dried off really) I should coat him with vaseline or another heavy cream.?? I don’t want to use vaseline because of staining stuff but will try the Neosporin daily eczema cream that works well for Troy.?? He wants me to continue with the triamcinolone twice a day when eczema spots flare up.?? He said, long term, if I used it twice a week, research shows no thinning of skin but if I use it daily I shouldn’t exceed 3 or 4 weeks.?? It is super important to coat eczema skin well with creams immediately after baths because that is when they lose their hydration.?? Emollients will seal in the moisture.?? Vanicream, Aquaphor, Vaseline, Eucerin all okay to try. He wants Troy to keep to annual appointments.?? Instructions say to put steroids on first to affected areas and then treat entire body with emollients.

Dermatologoist 4/24

Her hyperpigmentation is NOT fungal (I didn’t think it was but needed to at least ask).?? My assumption was correct – exczema issue.?? Dr. said that when exczema spots flare, the skin doesn’t make the pigmentation so when Tori is out in the sun and tans, it becomes very obvious between her excema flares and the rest of her skin.?? Excema flares are underpigmented and against tan skin, it really stands out.?? He said when the flare reduces the skin will return to normal pigmentation.?? He recommends same as always – basically the exact same treatment as Troy.?? I asked for the 1 pound tub of triamcinilone ointment this time for BOTH kids.?? She needs to see derm annually as well.

Love that she is old enough to begin cooking.?? She made herself a big fried egg, bacon and tall glass of orange juice this morning.?? She is such a capable little girl.?? I love that about her.

We spent Easter in Camp Verde.
