Summer Snow

So for the last five days, Jim and I and the kids have been up north camping in the Strawberry Wilderness area.?? We had so much fun as a family – much needed quiet time for our little crew.?? No tv, xbox, phones, computers….aaaaahhhhhhh!?? Nice.?? We borrowed Papa and Sweetie’s RV to make our trip easier and good darn thing we did because…..

Things started out fine.?? Daddy was unpacking, mommy was sorting and shooting, kids were wandering.

We then decided to play some baseball and low and behold…

it began to snow…

and it snowed

and snowed

And this picture below for GFF folk – a huge tree fell blocking the entrance to our usual Strawberry Family Camp site – crazy huh??? We found another great family camp site though.

The snow stuck through the night on Thursday and we woke to find patches still on the ground Friday.?? It snowed off and on through Sunday but only stuck a bit after Thursday.?? Sun came out on Monday.?? Fun family memory!?? We never get snow in Phoenix so it was quite an experience for our kids.?? AZ is a cool state though because it has such a variety of aesthetics.???? Strawberry is about 2 hours from where we live.?? We were toasty warm at night in the heated trailer but daytime temps were getting as low as 27 degrees.?? I am a good packer though so we had everything we needed short of mittens.?? I ended up putting Ty’s socks on Tori’s hands.?? Whatever works right??? ๐Ÿ™‚

Like summer snow…you were an unexpected site….(I was humming this old Keith Green song for five days.?? ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. What great memories! I love the time lapse shots of the snow. I am sure the kids loved it. Glad you have such a nice break. Sounds wonderful (if a wee bit cold)!

  2. Looks like fun, glad the kids had a good time with the snow. Anytime you guys want snow come visit me in the winter (I would love it) …….we have alot of snow ๐Ÿ™ Its fun for those who dont see it often but here spring/summer/fall does not last long enough.

We will enjoy it while it does ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. i too like seeing the snow grow with the photos. seth is standing here looking going “NO WAY! IN THE SPRING? I HAD NO IDEA!” ๐Ÿ™‚ he clearly wishes he was there. looks like a family dream you had right there. lovely.

  4. One of the things I miss about being raised in Apple Valley – watching snow come down, seeing if it “sticks” and then turning on the radio to see if they closed school!!!!! I do love that about Arizona – we are not too far away to go up and enjoy snow days – it is so beautiful. Glad you got a family vacation with lots of memories!
