Joy Joy

Awwwww…she is looking at her Daddy.?? :)?? Love that.

I am one of those mom’s that really prefers path of least resistance when it comes to child rearing.? I don’t like to push my kids to do things before they are ready because frankly – it simply makes for a mad kid and a frustrated mommy.? When it comes to the dreaded potty training, I would much prefer and wait until they are 3 and showing a real interest.?? If you wait them out, they pretty much train themselves and I am totally cool with that.?? ๐Ÿ™‚

Tori had other ideas in mind.?? Being a driver like mommy, “waiting” was not on her agenda.

This weekend she decided she wanted to use the potty in the RV so I humored her a couple of times and was surprised when she really did mean business.?? When we got home, we were having big fights over her diaper and the still necessary duct tape.?? She wanted PANTIES!

Jim and I have decided this is both good and bad news.?? On the one hand, she is very motivated, has not had an accident yet (and we started this sometime yesterday morning), will go both “ways” in the toilet, is trying to wipe herself, and loves the independence.?? On the other hand, she also insists on an audience.?? It took us over 3 hours to watch Sherlock Holmes last night because Tori kept wanting me to sit in the bathroom with her and just talk and then clap. :)?? Who wants to celebrate life’s victories alone right?

She is using both the big potty and the little pink potty I bought (and hate).?? She is still so tiny that I am afraid she is going to fall into the big potty.?? If I buy the seat for it, the boys won’t remove it and it will make the bathroom clean up problem an even bigger mess (ask Heidi about that LOL).?? However, I utterly detest cleaning the little potty AND Tori is trying to clean it herself when I am not looking.?? She dumps it in the sink, washes it out, and then if she gets thirsty, goes ahead and uses it as a cup!!!???? IIIIIIICCCCKKK!?? Jim caught her doing that and was not a happy daddy!

She begged for “pannies” so we had to take a Walmart trip together and purchase her first pairs of panties together.?? Oh the joys of all the good mother daughter moments to come.?? ๐Ÿ™‚

You should have seen us two gal pals wondering Walmart each carrying Dora the Explorer and Princess panties.?? We both smiled ear to ear and I admit…like Tori, I sorta felt like telling everyone we met too.?? Guess we know where she gets it from.?? The apple doesn’t fall far.?? ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. YEA! for her being so motivated to potty train. EEEEWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!! for using the toddler risned potty catcher as a cup!! BLECH!

  2. oh she is such a beauty – these pictures represent her well i think.

AS TO THE LITTLE PINK POTTY? YIKES! can you teach her to use the seat on the toilet in YOUR bathroom? or can you teach HER to take it off the toilet? would she do it because it is hers and only hers and she won’t want the boys to touch it – take her up on the selfish nature that is in all of us? ๐Ÿ˜‰ her little independent side will be so helpful with potty training! what a little wonder that darling is.

  3. Oh I just love the visual picture of you and Tori walking through Wal Mart with those smiles on your face…and yes the joys of mother/daughter time are just beginning. It is fun when they come full circle. I picture my first little girl who was like sunshine everyday. She made life fun as we cleaned house together acting out Disney movies. She was hilarious through Jr. High years and came home everyday with funny stories. High School began fun with all the sports and giggles. We hit a bump in the road at her senior year – but even then, we cried in each others arms. Now with planning a wedding we are back to late night talks, lots of giggles and stories and listening to her dream and I start to picture the mature mother/daughter relationship beginning…and I like what I see. She still is my sunshine, she makes life fun, I love listening to her stories…Doni treasure the moments. They are precious and fly by – oh, but the rewards…a best friend for life ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. After studying the last two days pictures I have decided that you are not a photographer but an artist. I have your old camera and take pictures, but the still life snow pics and the reflection pics are not pictures, they are art. It’s a gift.

  5. It is interesting to me to note that you are actually joyful about potti training Tori even though you know there going to be times of major disaster! (There is a reason you tape the diapers) You actually expect her to fail and you seem to be ok with that becasue she is making progress and wanting to grow up. You are totally committed to go through the process applauding and encouraging every “victory” and lovingly cleaning up every accident. You are BONDING with your daughter in a completely new and maturing way. It is wonderful! Sweetheart, this is EXACTLY what Father is doing with you…and HE is LOVIN IT!

  6. i think i will be reading papaz last note a few times… relating it to Father helps me to think twice about the shame i sometimes carry. so many times in a parenting moment i’ve felt him speak to my heart – particularly when i’ve been to harsh… “am i that harsh with you?” ouch… he’s teaching me to be strong AND gentle… i want to be more like Him and i want to trust His love the way Seth does mine.

as to doni being an artist? I’M SURE YOU AREN’T JUUUUST NOW GETTING THAT! she sure is… she had to stop saying that she isn’t creative a LONG time ago.

  7. SOMEBODY IS PLAYING WITH BLOG LAYOUTS!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚
