Yes his plan did backfire!!!! I am making him own this one too!!! True, Janay did leave but Mikayala got in and I think it is ALL because my goofy husband thought he would out strategize America! LOL. Not letting him live this down. This is especially humorous to me because Jim really like Amanda (as did I) so I think he should feel ashamed of himself for this!!!
The girls that got the boot were Amanda and Janay. I think loosing Amanda was just wrong. She performed well and she has much more vocal talent than several others do. I thought keeping Nadia and Vonzel AND MIKAYLA over Amanda was just sheer craziness.
The guys that got the boot were Nikko and Travis. From an emotional standpoint, I feel just fine about that. That is who I in fact wanted to go. HOWEVER, out of absolute fairness, Nikko can out sing some of the other guys (including and especially Constantine). I am personally glad Constantine is still in because I enjoy him more than Nikko but I don’t think there is really any question that Nikko does have more talent. Well…apparently there IS a question about that:)

girls – I WAS SHOCKED SHOCKED SHOCKED!!! i can not BELIEVE AMANDA WAS BOOTED – WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE???? she had a well-rounded package and was so natural on stage… made me think of a young gloria estefan… i truly beleive she got robbed of an opportunity that should have been hers. sad sad sad. who should have gone in her place? well – i’m not sure to be honest with you… personal preference would come into play here, nadia – as i’m not crazy about her voice, jessica – not crazy about the skin show or her overal look though she can SANG!, lindsay – love her voice, not a natural performer – hasn’t found her niche but this year of touring will fix that… just not sure… sad though – sad.
guys – i was shocked again! but i must say to my OWN surprise – i was pleasantly surprised! travis was a given. but constantine AND bo – wow! i think it is GREAT! we need to bring back a little rock and roll (of course we are just the right generation to believe that doni, aren’t we? the 80s were great for rock sounds).
but then i thought, uh oh, who else will be out? i wasn’t sure america would like anthony but that was given away early on. i thought scott might be at risk not giving his best vocal performances lately but his overall look is popular… nikko, well i’m somewhat surprised as i thought the r&b community would not sit still and let him go. he’s a good performer and vocalist but not my favorite. i do LOVE soulful music but he just didn’t cut it for me… i’m ok with him leaving but surprised america went that route.
overall – the only REAL disappointment for me is amanda. she definitely had her opportunity stolen from her and that is just a shame.
I felt the same way for the both the guys and girls. But I was so happy to see Janay leave! What I am curious about is that every year they have had a wildcard round where the judges pick someone and the voters pick one. They haven’t talked about this yet and next week the final 12 start. That stinks in my mind as I would like to bring a few people back that deserve to be there. And the race begins…….
I was soooooooooooooo happy to see Janay finally go (oh, I really don’t mean that viciously!) but really shocked to see Amanda go. I really liked her! At this stage of the game all we can do is see who America chooses – right or wrong. I also was surprised (good word Heidi) that Constantine stayed. Ryan’s manipulative/contradicting “wording” of who stays & who goes is also starting to get to me. I don’t mind him being tricky, but he’s not being accurate. But I still think he’s a cutie patootie! 🙂
me too – irritated at ryan tryin to make a big deal of tricking everybody each week. getting old!
Why do they always torture Constantine that way? That is the second time they have lead him to believe he was voted off!
I think the problem with Nikko and Travis is they were too much like Mario and some of the other guys….I know I can’t keep them all separated, and if you dont stand out you dont get votes.
I was happy to see Janay go, I did think she sounded no better than the local high school kids singing in their school play. I liked Amanda too, that is a shame. I would have kicked Mikayla off to.
I also dislike Nadia for some reason, and she is so cute and perky I feel like I SHOULD like her, but I don’t. I don’t like Jessica either.
I actually like Lindsey, she reminds me of another girl a few seasons back, whose name I can’t quite place…she didn’t last very long but my husband thought she was cute 🙂 Hopefully she will get over her awkwardness on stage.
i think doni can vouch for this – we probably had vocalists at our high school who were way better than janay and would have been insulted at the comparison. 🙂
Interesting update to the results…Mario has dropped out of the competition and Nikko has been reinstated. It will be interesting to see how far he makes it in the competition now.

It was on the news last night. It just said Mario dropped out for “personal reasons”. If you go to the american idol website it looks like Mario never even competed!
