Jessica – We thought she sounded good tonight.
Anwar – Boring song to us but it had its moments. We thought Simon was pretty right on with his comments.
Mikayla – Agreed with Simon. She did look cute though. In fact, the first thing Jim said was “She looks a bit like Heidi tonight” – that was a compliment:) – we both think Mikayla is a beautiful young gal. I think it was the eye’s and the eye shadow. I saw Heidi’s 80’s eyes:). What is with this song? It keeps coming back over and over. The girl that sang it last season did a much better job. ****And just a little side note from a preacher’s daughter – not all preacher’s sons are rebel rousers who would so quickly choose the “wordly” gal. Not real appealing. Sometimes I hear stuff like this and want to say “Hey! What’s in it for me?” All coming from memories of my younger days when guys would find it appealing that I was a preacher’s kid…for all the WRONG reasons. Just had to soap box about that LOL.
Constantine – We expected him to fail singing this genre. He didn’t! Good job!
Lyndsey – Come on girlfriend, you can do better. Simon was a bit harsh though.
Anthony – I like his quality but he is soooo vibrato it sounds forced and unnatural sometimes. I thought he wa a bit pitchy and his style just seems so out dated.
Nadia – I think she did better tonight but overall my opinion hasn’t changed much. She seems to have a pretty narrow range and was pushing really hard to get anything out of her higher register.
Bo – As always – GO GUY! We love ya! He just owned the stage tonight.
Vonzel – Loved her lipgloss:). We think she has a lot of potential but that last note seemed “off” to us.
Scott – Wow! Great performance. His slides into his upper register were awesome!
Carrie – I disagreed with the judges. I loved her tonight and loved the song choice.
Nikko – I was bored and forgot to listen:)
Our vote tonight was for Bo. We had trouble with this decision though. It was between Bo, Scott and Carrie. Bo owned the song and the stage though so that is why he got our vote.

Ahhhhhhh I’m sticking with Scott (he rocked tonight!!) & Carrie. Bo, well, he’s right up there too. Vonzell sure had on a beautiful dress & I like her a tad better now….(not because of the dress…lol). Is the show on tomorrow night? I had a little heathen tonight so I was a bit preoccupied right after the show. 😉
thank you melissa! i was irritated with nikko for the same reasons! not to mention i’m just not a fan of his vocals… i’m thinking mario’s backout could be a GREAT stunt for him – he was even on david letterman tonight reading the top 10! nikko may be in the tour but mario will sure get some attention as he stood a GREAT chance of being at or near the top.
bo is DEFINITELY my top choice for tonight and i would say he IS the american idol simply because he is already a star. he does not have to learn how to be one – he just is.
i liked carrie’s song and simon’s compliment that she knows who she is. he’s right about that. i think randy and paula didn’t like her because it was country tonight. she was pretty smooth and steady.
jessica – sounded great – has good potential.
anwar – agreed – boring song with a few good moments. he has more in him than what he gave. i hope he steps it up and proves it.
mikayla – THANKS! i thought she looked very glamorous and pretty – esp. tonight (though not crazy about her waaaaay low pants! didn’t think they were too flattering. 🙂 i also thought the song was a poor choice – not only do i just not like it much and i am tired of it (and agree with doni’s soapbox story!) but it was not good for her voice at all. she’s got to find her place and that wasn’t it.
constantine – he’s getting better and better if you ask me! he actually has a pretty right on voice when he sings and gets away from the screaming. on his own i don’t think he’s an especially attractive guy but he does have personality, a coy smile, and a presence that makes up for it doesn’t he?
lindsey – i think she’s going to be gone soon. she has a huskey smooth thing in there but her song choices do nothing for her voice. i don’t think she has a very wide range either. bummer performance tonight.
nadia – better tonight than some of her rocker stuff. however, she makes some really ugly facial expressions when she sings which makes her very hard to watch! i’m still not a fan.
vonzell – i think she’s got such a sweet talking voice (and yes, great lipgloss!), is very pretty – looked so glamorous tonight – dress and all… and i thought she did a GREAT job singing/performing… UNTIL the last note! uggh… that really was a bummer to end the song with that off note.
scott – just didn’t do it for me tonight – i think i don’t like the song. he was actually singing really nicely – and yes, had great slides and showed a nice smooth range.
my top pics were bo, carrie, vonzell & scott with bo DEFINITELY at the top. he’s just a star! carrie can do very well in her own right as a country artist but i see bo winning the competition.
oh yes – anthony…i find him boring. not my style though his voice is certainly not lackin talent – just doesn’t stand out to me as superstar.
Heidi – sooooo looks like we are coming around to the same way of thinkin;)!
By the way, Jim and I think Constantine reminds of us Bono. Agree?

Just a note about the song choices….almost ALL of the songs had been done in previous years by other contestants. The reason is because the contestants are given a list of songs to choose from, ones with no copyright or licensing issues.
They stick out for me because as a child of the 80’s I have never heard some of those songs outside of American Idol…notably the House is Not a Home song.
I liked Carrie, Anthony, Bo and Constantine last night. I liked Mikayla and Lindsey the least. Hopefully America agrees with us 🙂
Hi there all! I was bummed as I missed the first 1/2 hour of the show last night but here is what I thought…..Bo was fantastic! Not my type of music but he is a performer and he sings his genre well. Vonzell…..I’m sorry to those that like her but yuck! She was off-key more than a few times last night. I just don’t see what the judges are seeing in her at all. She doesn’t come across as genuine and then she is all over the place with her tone.
Scott was great, he needs a little bit more motion in him as a performer but I love his vocals. I was really diasappointed with the judges comments about Carrie. She is absolutely one of the best singers in the competition and I feel as if they have placed her on such a high pedestal they are being negative on every little thing. Other contestants were horrible and they say…You have improved from last week!…Carrie picks a country song that sounds great with her voice and they don’t like it. Hopefully America knows what it wants and will vote her through. Randy and Paula were just plain wrong last night about her. She isn’t perfect but she is above many others when it comes to pitch and tone. Not to mention the fact that she sells her talent….not her body which is a huge seller for me! My vote last night went to Carrie.
Heather I agree! Carrie’s voice is awesome & I personally think she has consistent, smooth control. That little smile adds the finishing touch for me. 🙂
Now Jennifer, are you saying you are just so young you don’t remember the 60’s songs? LOL! Honestly me either, & I think it makes it harder to really know if someone’s doing a good job or not when you don’t know the song. 🙂
Also, I just don’t dig Anthony. I don’t know what it is….he reminds me of John Stevens (oh do you remember him from last year? He should have been gone on night one!!! The redhead who couldn’t even tap his foot to the beat) & I picture him only singing ballads. I don’t think he can do anything else but who knows. I know others really enjoy him. 🙂

I love 60’s music, but they don’t do any of the good songs, no Beatles or Beach Boys or anything fun, due I guess to the fact that those songs are still copyrighted and they dont want to pay the royalties. So, year after year we will be subjected to A House Is Not A Home and Standing Right Next to Me, or whatever.
I think several of these kids will be contracts, even if they dont win, there is a lot of talent this year!
i’m liking the comments! especially the one about carrie selling her voice NOT HER BODY!!! GOOOO CARRIE! LOVE THE INNOCENT COUNTRY GIRL! 😉 in performing often looks are a key – and i do understand that in pop even new country music. but you can do it tastefully. 🙂
Yes you can do it “tastefully”, even though that’s not the norm anymore. Very sad. I was very put off by Jessica’s ‘cleavage show’ last week. Hasn’t it been said that the less you show, the more beautiful a person is? 🙂
