Mindful of the Present

Ty had a couple of firsts this week!

Haircut
He had his VERY FIRST haircut! Funny that he was 10 months/14 months for his first hair cut when Tanner was 5 months old! I bet your wondering why we cut his hair when he didn’t have much to begin with. The top was just out of control and kept standing up so Jim decided a little hair cut might help. It did:)

Clapping
He also clapped for the first time this week! Jim and I and the boys along with Grandma Cheri and Little Grandma (Ty’s genetic grandmother and great grandmother) went to the zoo (pictures posted). When we need desperately to get out, we have to choose outdoor exposure during RSV season. Little Grandma was playing patty cake with him and he finally caught on. I have tried and tried to teach him this to no avail. In fact, he has not repeated it since. Some things take a grandparents touch apparently:)

Thumb
Ty has discovered his thumb. Seems a strange age to start thumb sucking. He actually isn’t sucking…he chews on it. Wonder if this will evolve into sucking?

Speech Therapy
Something exciting also happened this week! We ended Ty’s speech therapy!!! Yeah!!! His last official speech therapy session was Friday, March 11th. He is now eating 3 to 4 stage 2 baby food jars per day! This is a miracle in and of itself.

Ban on Star Wars
You know that Jim has watched Star Wars way too many times when he delivers the following line to Ty (while Ty was crawling across the bed heading for a fall)

“Be mindful of the present my young padawan”

Jim makes me laugh.

P.S. Several new pictures posted in the gallery.

  1. My 8 month old also is a thumb chewer not a thumb sucker. It has not evolved into anything so far, he has probably been doing it for 3 or 4 months now.

Congrats on the end of speech therapy and the clapping!
