One response to “Birthmom’s Day”

  1. Ladies, friends of Doni’s who are friends to me in my heart,

I too wish you a happy birthmother’s day. May each year that you come across this day be a day of celebration for life in your hearts. May you experience new levels of joy, hope, comfort, strength, and nobility, KNOWING full well that you have blessed the heart of God in choosing life and giving so much of yourselves in love. You are treasures to be cherished and love. May you experience both.

I had the honor of reading Doni’s notes before she’s shared them with the birthmothers she’ll be speaking to. Let me say how proud I am of her for expressing her heart so clearly, so profoundly. She has put words to what so few of us have really understood. I’ve always felt a sense of compassion, of, oh, I don’t know the word, of proudness perhaps, of birthmothers who choose life… but Doni’s love backed by genuine, lived-out experience, has given me insight beyond what I could have ever even guessed before. I have incredibly new depths of love and respect for birthmother’s after knowing the Brinkman stories and those of the families which gave them the gift of adoption – and even more after reading her notes from which she will share hear heart with birthmothers today. Perhaps you will have the joy of hearing her speak too and will understand why she has touched my heart with her words and why I am thankful to God for opening my heart to love you even more than I already did. If you do not hear her speak first hand then you have probably already read much of that love in her words in this journal and can know there are countless others joining in her refrain of love and applause for you. I am one of them cheering you on today.

I hope she chooses to share some of her notes after she completes her speaking engagement (hint hint). 🙂

    Love love love love love,
    Heidi Jo
