URGENT – Tanner going to DC!

Please pray for us – we are going to Washington DC on Sunday (22nd)!

Well my dear friends…I suppose you won’t be surprised to hear that I am “at it again” LOL!!! To make this short and sweet, in 2001 President Bush ruled against the public funding of embryonic stem cell research (with the exception of a few existing lines) -BLESS HIS HEART! Tanner was a couple of months old at the time and I cried when in his speech he mentioned the snowflake babies.

However, certain members of Congress are at work trying to overturn this decision. Advocates of H.R. 810 are attempting to argue that excess embryos at IVF clinics are “destined for destruction” and should be used for embryonic stem cell research. (You ALL know what I think of THAT!)

H.R. 810 is coming up for vote next week!!!!

As a result, we have been asked to participate in a press conference in Washington DC NEXT TUESDAY (the 24th)! This press conference is hosted by Congressmen Joe Pitts (PA-16), Mike Pence (IN-06), and Dave Weldon (FL-15).

Tanner and I will be flying to Washington on Sunday (ironically Tanner’s 4rth birthday – good thing we postponed the Shear Shactor Party:)! PLEASE pray for us! I have felt the calling on my heart to stand up for the “least of these” since childhood and God continues to give our family opportunity to do this.

Sadly, Jim will have to stay home with Ty (big surprise:) – a germy airplane is NOT in his best interest right now.

Thank you so much for your prayer support! Please feel free to copy and paste this posting in emails to those friends and family members who would be willing to pray that Tanner (along with the other children) can have a voice and change hearts!!! I hope members of Congress would have a difficult time voting to destroy “excess” embryos (for any purpose) after seeing a child that WAS one.

Here is a link to an article The Hill printed this morning in regards to the bill and the press conference with the Snowflake kids.

*Several of the families going (including us) are struggling with financial support for this trip. Please do NOT feel in anyway obligated by this as we covet your prayers first and foremost…however, if there are families who feel led to take part in helping us make sure Congress see’s the face of our son…a representative of the little lives they are so willing to discard, we are accepting contributions to help defray costs of airtravel and hotels. If we are able to raise our support money, any excess monies would go towards other participating snowflake families who also need help getting their little one’s to DC. For simplicity sake (and because we leave in a matter of day’s), I am posting a link to our Pay Pal account – contributions can be made by debit or credit card (I think). Again, this is only for those who feel LED to help support this cause.

  1. How exciting for you and Tanner!!! I live in VA about 20 minuets away from DC – PLEASE let me know if there is anything I can help you with. You and all the snowflakes families will be in my prayers.

  2. I know your pretty busy, and I am soo happy you are able to take Tanner to DC, the only thing i could suggest for the Snowflake families, is see if there is a sister church, and see if you guys could stay in the church or if they have a church house. I assisted in a benefit her in winthrop for 2 boys from out of state with a rare form of cancer, (which i can tell you about more if your intrested later). We talked to a church in town they had the parsanage that wasn’t being used and the families from out of state stayed there. Calling the Churches they can offer ideas or even help with things, Just a suggestion!! Good Luck Sunday

  3. Go Doni, Go Doni, Go Doni!!! We are praying for you big time and Vicki has you on the Emeaus (sp?) prayer chain – you go get ’em tomorrow and know that we are behind you 100%. (Hopefully Jim can pass this message on to you, although I have a feeling you will feel God’s presence.) Love, Steph, Brandley and Parker
