Well Tanner decided to catch a flu bug while in DC. So we had to change the flight home to Thursday to give Tanner some recuperation time. Doni will have to take Tanner to the emergency room there by cab(not fun). It’s getting better by the minute here. So now they are scheduled barring Doni getting sick to come home on Thursday instead of Wednesday, of coarse at extra costs. Please pray for this situation as the stress level has gone up a notch or two for Doni.
****Update****
Doni did take Tanner to the emergency room in Arlington and they gave him an IV to rehydrate him. He was on the revovery when I spoke to Doni this morning and hopefully will be well by tonight sometime. Doni only got like 4 hours of sleep with this, so she will be wiped out by the time she gets home. Let’s just pray nothing else goes wrong while coming back. Fortunatly some of our friends were also still in DC and were able to help Doni with some apple juice for Tanner and some bread sine Tanner is on the “Brat”(I think it’s called) diet while sick.

oh jim! i know this is hard on you all in many many ways. i will definitely be praying for you. this keeps up and doni will have to go home to her parents house to avoid your home with ty! oh what a bummer this is! i will be praying that the Lord will work all of this out to be a blessing one way or another.
Doni Doni I saw you on TV last night! I haven’t checked your site in way too long, and last night (Tuesday 5/24) we were watching CNN in bed around 10 p.m. when a big feature about the whole stem cell thing came on. I was all unaware about you and Tanner being there, when all of a sudden I saw YOU over the President’s left shoulder — I knew you from your picture on the site — I said to Ben, “Hey, I think I know that girl!” When we realized snowflake babies were the topic, I started yelling. “That’s Doni Brinkman! She’s my friend!” I knew my husband shared my views on stem cell research, but on the spot I told him all about Tanner and about snowflake babies. And then this morning I came to your site, and sure enough, I was right. Lucky girl, standing right with the President like that! I’ll bet he was adorable.
Please give Tanner a hug from our family — I hope he recovers quickly, that you don’t get sick, and that you’re soon safely and happily home with Jim and Ty. Love, your faithful reader (not faithful enough apparently), Gretchen C. in Newport Beach, CA
Know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers. We saw you late last night on CNN. Tanner did look really tired, maybe that was the begining of his illness. My two oldest were over joyed to see you both standing next to the president. They have learned alot in school about our government. My little girl wants to know if you are both famous now, and if you got to sleep at the whitehouse.LOL!!!!
Start kickin’ those bugs Tanner. Alot of people are waiting to here about your awesome adventure.
Well you better tell Doni that she should re-consider my invitation to Boston since they can’t go home yet and she’s pretty darn close. : )
(just a little wishful thinking)
HANG IN THERE JIM!!!!! THEY MAY BE MANY MILES AWAY, BUT THEY ARE STRONG AND WILL BE HOME SOON.
Aww, sorry about Tanner feeling bad…..we will be praying for his quick recovery!
I also saw that the bill they were fighting against passed, but not by enough to over-ride W’s veto…praying he sticks to his word and vetos it!
i just spoke ever so BRIEFly to doni and i hear she’s got relief coming from the nearby dc area – gatorade is on the way to tanner! thank you kind friend for taking care of doni and tanner while they are nearby – we appreciate you! you’re an answer to prayer.
doni, tanner, jim and ty – we’re praying for your safe reconnection SOON – love, the warnicks
praying that you both come home healthy and safe on thursday. doni what you have done this past week is just amazing. thanking the Lord that you are here on this earth as a woman of God that i can look up too. God bless you and Jim, Tanner & Ty
jim, your comment has touched my heart more than any other – to hear your love for your family and the way you honor your wife. i’ve had the privilege of a little more time with you and know that your words come from the heart. whenever doni speaks of you she is honoring in return and i have gained so much from watching your commitment to the Lord and to eachother deepen and grow over the years. thanks for allowing YOUR light to shine too. because of you Doni is encouraged to be who she is and i’m so thankful my sister has been given a husband who loves God and loves her.
thank you for keeping us posted while doni was away – for holding down the fort at home. and by the way, my grammie gave you A HUGE honor in an email to me the other day. she said, (and i QUOTE), “And I think that we need to send a “trophy” to Jim for his outstanding ability to report on the travelers. He did great.”
nOW THAT IS PRETTY GOOD DON’T YOU THINK? well done.
jim .. you’re just as talented a writer as your wife is photographer. the “innocent” little remarks…”somehow she got right in front of the camera”…”this will make her come out of her shell..” you clever clever husband!
and thank you again for your updates.
CNN BROADCAST EXCERPTS OF THE TALK…DONI IS FAMOUS IN HONG KONG!!!
YOU HOME SAFE YET? please let us know when you are. 🙂
Hey Roomies! I talked to Sharon this afternoon so I know you at least got a ride to the airport today. I was sorry to hear that Tanner was still not feeling well enough to get out of bed and eat. So far Carter and I have avoided the bug, so maybe your plan for us to move rooms worked . . . I still hate the thought of you and Tanner in DC by yourselves . . . I suppose I could have made something up at the ER in DC w/ you so Carter and I could have a note to to delay our flight home! Can’t wait to hear you’re home safe and everyone is feeling better.
By they way, Carter has been asking for “Dawee” and “Taher” all day today, especially right before going to bed!
Love,
Courtney
