The boy’s SHEAR SHACTOR party was a great success!!! Tanner was so happy and he woke up this morning still talking about how much fun he had. He kept saying “Mommy – that was a FUN party!” Ty played so long and hard that he crashed yesterday evening.
Here is a little recap:
The party started with lunch. On the menu was bug pizza, eyeball punch, strawberry spiders, and spider legs dipped in mud (pretzel sticks in chocolate). After lunch, Jenna, Tanner, Noah and Zandi went on a bug hunt. They had 5 minutes to catch as many bugs as they could. The three younger ones chose partners to help (I was afraid they would pick up something that would bite them). Noah chose Rob, Tanner chose Uncle Darin, and Zandi chose Uncle Dusty. The team that won? Hands down Dusty and Zandi!!! Zandi is NO DOUBT her father’s child so no one was suprised.
After the bug hunt, we had an oreo dig. First up was Jim, Darin, Dustin, Rob, Aviel and Dusty. I made spagetti noodles and dyed them to look like earthworms and then hid four oreos inside. The first to dig out the oreos with only their mouth was the winner. Noah betted on Rob and won:). When I tried to get the kids to play this game, Noah and Zandi bailed on me but Tanner and Jenna played like pros!
Then came the coin dig! I put REAL earth worms and meal worms in a tin roaster and hid coins in the dirt. Each kid had 20 seconds to dig out as many coins as they could. This was the game that solidified “Girls Rule Boys Drool”!!! Jenna and Zandi participated but Noah and Tanner would have NOTHING to do with that! LOL. Jenna surprised us all by….(never mind…you’ll have to watch the video if you want to know:).
After the coin dig, the kids broke a pinata. Noah is mighty handy with a bat. Tanner did pretty well too but half the time it looked like the pinata was beating on Tanner. Ty loved that game! LOL!
We opened presents next and the boys got WAY more toys than they needed and I am wondering what in the heck I am going to do with everything….sigh….
When presents were opened, we went on our final adventure. Tanner wanted me to buy piranahs for the pool. Tanner, Jenna, Noah, Zandi and Ty all swam with the piranahs (goldfish) and caught them with strainers. It took a while to convice Noah and Tanner that we were pretending about the piranahs but they eventually got tired of watching all the fun Zandi, Ty, and Jenna were having so they joined in.
The slip and slide turned out to be perfect for the babies! Ty, Graham, Zane, and Beau loved it!
The only disappointment was that Ty would not eat his cake…figures:)!

Oh gosh, what fun! Happy Birthday Tanner & Ty! What a great video & photos. I envy your family so much! What a loving family to be able to get all those people together & have such an awesome celebration! What a dream come true if my family could have what you all have. We have the complete opposite…lol! Very sad. You guys are so, so blessed! Now, if everyone would please be so kind to wear nametags for all of us strangers who watch, we would greatly appreciate it! lol! 🙂

I think you left some people out of the polls. I vote Doni. You put up a fantastic get together. The video was superb. Watching Ty was amazing. The batting of the pinata with such fervor. “Testing” the waters on the slide. Kids show us what life is really about.
So FUN! Thanks for the video it’s the next best thing to actually being able to be there! You did a great job!! 🙂

Okay you – you make me ill:) Not only do you wrangle two little boys all day, every day, fight for the right of the unborn, regularly update us all on life in the Brinkman household, but you SOMEHOW find time to plan an incredible party for the loves of your life AND you are a video editor? Sheesh!!! I’m tired thinking of you and your energy and talents LOL!
Loved the video and the party – I agree with Erica – I think you won. And you must be sooooo happy to be able to have everyone all together and not be quarantined anymore. Yea Doni! You rock!
Awesome! I am so glad the boys finally got their party. It looks to have been well worth waiting for! The pictures are gross…I can’t imagine what it was like it person! I’ll have to go in to work so I can watch the video. Great Job, Doni! You make the best memories! Love, Jennifer

Doni has volunteered to edit videos for ALL her friends! HA HA HA HA HA!!!!!!! YAH RIGHT! heee hee… i do know this – if she could, she would. 🙂 that was a cute joke jennifer. actually, i bet she’d be willing to make a trade for house-cleaning and dinners cooked! ok ok, wait a minute, that’s ME! i’d do it for you if you’d cook my meals and clean MY house!
doni, glad you got your cleaning under control – is so much easier to get things done in a clean space. my house is not out of control but it’s not peaceful yet and with seth reverting back to poor sleeping (since daddy was gone last week) i’m having a hard time getting motivated to get anything done! uggh… wish i’d done what you did and spent a good hard day on it… soon…
Happy Birthday BOYS! Looks like a fantastic party, I wish I was there. Lots of great ideas and lots of fun. Good job mommy with the editing of the birthday video….what a great idea.
Hope Tanner is having a great time camping and mommy isn’t having too much separation anxiety. He’ll be home soon. I know it’s hard. My boys are older now, and I long for a break….when it’s finally here, I miss them, go figure.
