Tanner and Camping

Pray for me! I let Tanner go on a 5 day camping trip with Papa and Sweetie and I am miserable!!! Jim and I couldn’t go because he is “on call” through August so we can’t be more than 45 minutes away from our house. See why I need a vacation so bad? If not one thing, it is something else! Tanner is having the time of his life of course and called me today to tell me about fishing and the big green bug he caught. He told me that he is having a really good fun time 🙂 .

I thought I would go nuts yesterday. He woke up at 6:30 AM and was getting dressed for his camping trip. They didn’t leave until 7:30 PM so he had a 13 hour wait that was filled with “Mommy! Is Papa coming? I can’t wait!!!” I heard this for hours. He packed and repacked his toys and watched the door all day waiting for Papa.

At dinner he told Jim that he needed to get a kitchen pool for Papa. What is a kitchen pool? The more I listened I realized he was saying “kitchen pole”. Still didn’t help much. I was baffled. Finally I said “Tanner, what does one do with a kitchen pole?”. He said “You know! For fishin!”. LOL. Ah ha! A fishing pole! Should have figured that out. He and Papa caught fish for dinner tonight too!

He told Ty and I yesterday “I am gonna miss you guys”. I doubt that is true. Wishful thinking on my part. Mom said that Tanner told her he missed his mommy today. I had to ask her if she was prompting that. She promised she wasn’t. Quite surprising. I doubt any tears will be shed over this grief LOL.

  1. oh my goodness! how can you possibly stand this! you must be missing HIM terribly…however, i bet you will find ways to handle the quieter moments… not that tanner was any trouble and he probably actually helped with that busy-body boy of yours quite a bit! is ty missing him yet? 🙂

i bet your parents are in hog heaven!

  2. Oh Doni you are brave, I had a hard time sending Eric off with my husband 2 hours aways for a weekend to visit grandparents! How fun for Tanner and what an adventure! He’ll come home with all kinds of wonderful stories. Just a side note…. my 12 and 14 year old are signed up for as many camps as possible! LOL As my children get older I’m WAY more open to them having “vacations”. He he
    Have a great day
