All In A Days Work

Feeling frustrated with my daughter, I decided to take you on a short house tour less you have assumed that Tori was outgrowing her mischievous ways.

Before we moved into this house, Jim and I bought a beautiful high table and chairs for our kitchen and decided to hand stain it ourselves.? We were quite proud of our work.? The markings you see on this chair – silver SHARPIE.? (As a side point, she is getting good at writing a letter L and T now)

Blue crayon on my bedroom wall

Blue dum dum on my bedroom carpet

I was busy backing up files and came back to fine that Tori had added her own artistic flavor.

Last night Tori came in and snuggled me and said “Mommy.? Tickers (stickers) are for paper ONLY wight?”

I smiled delighted and said “Yep.? Good girl.”

Walked out into the front room and discovered her stickers on my coffee table.? Shout out to Grandma and Grandpa Brinkman for that.? ;)? The kids loved their stickers that came in the mail for Halloween.? Want to see what else she did with the stickers?? ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

This light hangs above our high kitchen table.? She had to be standing on the table to stick that one up there.

I was a little concerned yesterday when I noticed pink marks running up and down her arm.? Being a paranoid mom I immediately jumped to infection of some scary sort.?? Closer inspection though indicated she had managed to get her hands on my pink highlighter.

Will this end by three?? Can I get it in writing?

  1. You forgot to mention that the Sharpie was a permanenet marker!!!! Man, I know she wears you out and you have to watch her like a hawk but trust me when I say that these days will be over before you know it and you will be planning her wedding and remembering all these days as precious and over way too soon! I remember well the older ladies at church telling me these same words of advise and I thought I took it to heart, but…life moves fast!!! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy those precious children (permanent markers and all!) We are so blessed to watch them grow up and change before our eyes as they explore and learn and grow (come on Tori, you can do it – grow!!!!) She is such a tiny little munchkin ๐Ÿ™‚ Love this post (sorry! It makes me giggle!) And by the way those pictures of that little darling girl are UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! You are simply amazing and anyone should feel privileged to have you capture their precious ones by picture. You never cease to amaze me!!!!

  2. Smiling and laughing….but I feel your pain too ๐Ÿ˜‰ I hate to tell you, but my 7 and almost 11 year old girls just had to clean the bathroom walls and their bedroom wall because the put lipstick on and then kissed the walls MANY times! My kitchen table has holes in it where Tyler and Lauren would stab it with their forks when they were little… at least they don’t do that anymore ๐Ÿ˜‰ Life is an adventure at least ๐Ÿ˜‰

  3. absolutely positively not! you may not have any sort of promise it will be over by three. in fact, i promise it will continue for a while. anyone who tells you otherwise is lying. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. I agree with Heidi – Devin’s third birthday was like a fighters ring bell that started the battles. Two was a cake walk compared to what has started over the last month. Maybe? Hopefully? it’s different for girls. ๐Ÿ™‚

You just have to balance it out by focusing on the good stuff – the cuteness, the smiles, hugs, snuggles, and kisses. The wonderful exclaimation… MOMMY!

  5. I agree with Heidi Jo…can I get a AMEN!!
Your little tour is remarkable compared to some of the grand adventures I have had to clean. Sorry I laughed as I read about the pink marks, but at least you did not rush her to the doctors office and hear the med vac helicopter getting ready to land. (Baby Jacob turns yellow. story).
I am seriously thinking hard on what to get Tori to keep her occupied in the first few days of your new arrival, this new baby is sure going to need some kind of cover from big sister Tori.
I think your Christmas gift this year will be the “Queen of Clean” book. It has saved my life, walls, floors, the car, the DVD player and so many more objects.
    Hang in there mama!!
Oh and just to prop my agreement with Heidi Jo….just yesterday I spent two hours cleaning Logan’s (almost 14) room because he and his friends thought it would be funny to have a shaving cream fight, that ended up hitting every corner of his room, his tv, his dvd player, his clothes in the closet, his shoes (one pair just bought this past weekend) framed photos…need I go on?? Of course he got into a little trouble and I made him clean it first, but teens have a chemical in the brain that keeps them from deep cleaning like a mother.
