Are you? Are you?

Ty: Age 2 (19 months/22 months)
Weight: 29 pounds

Blue Feet Issue

I am still noticing that Ty can’t handle cold. If he is cold his extremities all turn BLUE BLUE BLUE. When he was about to have eye surgery in January, the nurses could get a pulse ox to work on him because he was too cold. They were concerned about it and thought I should have his heart checked. I know that he only does this when he is cold (and we did have his heart checked for this last year and it was fine). Wondering if I need to check again though. Does anyone know if this is a weird preemie thing?

Gloworm Issue

Lest we forget Ty’s fear of his glowbaby….the glowbaby strikes again. When I was setting up Ty’s crib in his room I decided to mount a few crib toys that I had never put up in the other house (no reason…just hadn’t done it). One of the crib toys has a glowbaby face on it that lights up when you push the button. It has a little storybook and the characters light up and move on a moving screen. The glowbaby aspect didn’t catch my attention. The next morning I heard this wailing scared cry. Tanner went to check on him and came out saying “Mommy! It’s the glowbaby again.” Aaaghhh! Still? Come on now TyJo…how could that silly little critter still frighten you. He presses the button still though. He gets used to it each time after a few days so I left it in there but he will fake a cry if he knows I am watching. He wants me to believe he is afraid of it:)

Symbol Recognition

I have two fabulously smart kids:). They both excel in symbol recognition. Tanner always impressed me with this and now I am noticing the same trait in Ty. Here are a few examples (keep in mind, Ty is only 19 months corrected age):

When we go to Lowe’s he recognizes the sign.
When we go to Walmart he recognized the parking lot.
When he see’s the word Disney he say’s Disneyland
If he see’s even the outline of a micky mouse head on a paint card he say’s Disneyland.
When we go to Del Taco he say’s “burrito” the minute he see’s the sign.
When we go to “Uncle Donald’s” (that’s what Tanner calls McDonald’s), he say’s “Burger! Fwies! Coke!”
When he see’s the Panda sign he say’s “Rice”! Both my kids love Panda and I think that is strange.
When he see’s Veggie Tales he say’s “Beans!” He thinks all Veggie Tales are beans because he has the VT Lord of the Beans episode:)
He recognizes the letter T, and the shape of a circle, box, apple, and a houf (house:).
When American Idol comes on, he screams “Mick In”!
When our favorite show 24 comes on, he yells “Ten!” LOL! I think that is very smart that he never can remember to say 24 but he apparently knows 24 is a number so he say’s 10 instead:)
Yesterday Tanner and Ty were in the bath and Ty was holding a little boat and kept calling it a “puter”. Why would he call the boat a computer. Finally Tanner inspected it and said “Mommy he is right! It IS a computer.” I checked out the boat and sure enough, a symbol looking exactly like the Windows Explorer icon was on the boat. THAT IS WEIRD! Both my 2 year old AND 4 year old recognize the Explorer icon! That is just a little bit geekish don’t you think? LOL. They definitely get THAT from their dad! Ha ha!!!!

Ty-Ism’s

Yetters = Letters (he likes letters)
Me-oool= (Meal – as in get me a meal)
Wunch = Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Yo’s = Lowe’s
MalMart = Walmart
And my favorite this week….Pay Pen = Play Pen (is that some kind of Freudien slip?)

Calling All Lost Items

Recently I asked Ty to find his shoes. I watched him walk into his bedroom and peer inside and say “Are yooooou? “Areeeeeeeee yooooooouuuu?”. You know that intonation of searching that makes your sentence very long? Was so cute.

He was hungry for hot dogs the other day and walked over to the kitchen island and peered into the cabinet calling the hot dogs this way. I didn’t expect them to answer him but apparently he was hoping:).

Pictures

I intend to get better pictures of the boys soon but Ty has looked so beat up lately due to his fall and scratching his ears that I have even hesitated to bring him in public much less take pictures!!! I have some ideas for sepia pictures for my kitchen so I should be working on it soon:)

One response to “Are you? Are you?”

  1. On the blue feet–I don’t know how much meat Ty has on his bones, but my nephew is very little and has virtually no fat on him and he starts to turn blue around the lips for sure and I think his hands and feet get blue too. Not sure if this helps or not. 🙂

Last weekend I was at Walmart with my mom and saw a glowbaby. I thought of Ty right away. How funny that he pretends to cry when you aren’t in the room!!
