The American Idol Effect

This season of American Idol, Daniel and I have been avid participants. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and sometimes Thursday nights we are glued to the set. We had no idea the effect it was having on our children.

Noah, as most of you know is very vocal so his little brother Graham, (18mo.) is usually the quiet one. Graham is my snuggle bug and enjoys watching and just imitaitng Noah’s antics. But lately he is coming into his own little person. And now I can pin point the major influence in Graham’s change of personality. American Idol. Soon after auditions, Graham started walking through the house singing and shouting. He is now accompanied by Noah’s min-guitar or a makshift microphone, anything from baseball bats to golf clubs. My quiet little Graham is now the loudest crooner of them all! I think he has found his passion. Each day he picks up his little guitar, puts on his straw cowboy hat, at leat one of his boots and begins to sing at the top of his lungs. He also must have a true ear for music, because he only lets Daniel sing with him, he tells me no!

  1. OH Brooke! You know EXACTLY why I am laughing at your last line. Too funny!!! And while we are on the subject – last night I voted for: MANDISSA – my favorite, Katherine, Paris, Ace, Chris, and Kelly. I wish I would have voted for Taylor too. I am having such a hard time this season because I love so many of them and that never happens. I thought they all did so well last night!!!

  2. Brooke, no worries when I sing my boys are very quick to tell me to stop. I’m tone deaf and love to sing ๐Ÿ™‚ Sometimes it’s quite frightening. LOL In church I sit in the front close to the speakers so I can sing my heart out! Yesterday my 3 year old saw something he thought was the “singing show” and asked if we could watch it. We watch together and he konws a few of their names now. His pick is Chris.

  3. Yesterday Ty and I were in the Master Bedroom and all the sudden we hear Ryan Seacrest’s voice. Ty yells “Mick In” and starts running for his seat on the couch! The show hadn’t even been announced yet but Ty KNOWS Ryan ๐Ÿ™‚ .

  4. How precious…it seems like our Graham’s are alike, except for the fact mine is nine!
