Mowgli

I had to giggle last night when Jim was calling Tori “Mowgli” (from the Jungle Book).? She was running around and doing a little tribal dance in just her pull up and she did indeed look like Mowgli.? Do you see it?? Her frame is still so tiny but her hair is getting bigger all the time.? Little bobble head.? :)?? I heard Nicole Kidman interviewed recently and could relate when she commented on how she loved to look at Sunday Rose’s little shoulders.? There is such a preciousness to their teeny tiny bodies.

“I have a sneezy nose and a tickly mouth.” – Tori – last week

“My foot is KILLING me mama.” – Tori in regards to the itty bitty scrape across her toe.

“Can I meet you at the park?” – Tori riding her scooter outside.? The park is 2 blocks away.? Uh? NO!

No I didn’t tell her to wink.? Didn’t even know she could.? That was all Mowgli Tori.

*************

Ty has never in his life met a stranger and more and more I wonder how much I should be concerned about this.? When Ty was 3, I made this comment to a case worker.? I was saying it lightly but she interpreted it very seriously and said that we needed to watch that because it could be dangerous.? I thought she was silly at the time but now I do realize what she was getting at because Ty really does embrace all people without a sense of caution.? I love that about him but Jim and I need to be on guard to protect our friendly little boy.

This weekend I was working at my computer and Ty was in the front yard with Jim and Tanner.? I was not dressed appropriately for company (I’ll just leave it at that).? Next thing I know, Ty is standing behind my chair in my bedroom and says “Mommy!? Look who I have here!”

I turn around and am introduced to a random 11 year old from the neighborhood looking as surprised as I.? (I think he was snared and drug into the house quick as a wink by whirlwind Ty and he didn’t know what to think of it).? Ty told me his name and wanted to know if he could now go see this kid’s house.? As if! ๐Ÿ™‚

A bit later, I had a talk with Ty about not inviting people inside without talking to me FIRST and that he could NEVER NEVER NEVER go in someone else’s house without Daddy or Mommy.? In saying this I guess I used the words “someone we don’t know” and no sooner did I utter it that Ty promptly returns

“Ya but now that you KNOW”

I of course interrupt him and defend that learning the name of a child does NOT mean I KNOW him.? LOL.? Silly boy.

Last week Jim grounded Ty from Xbox for an entire week.? If you were to ask mom (which Jim didn’t hee hee), the issue he was being disciplined over was due to an OCD thing versus a defiance thing.? It is really tough parenting kids with challenges sometimes but that is a whole other story.

At any rate, Thursday morning Ty says “MOMMMY!!!? I AM SO HAPPY!!!!? IT’S GAME NIGHT!!!! —-but I am grounded and can’t play————BUT IT’S THURSDAY SO THAT MEANS ONLY 4 MORE DAYS UNTIL I CAN PLAY NOW!”

What an optimist huh?

Tanner has really been enjoying fishing with Papa.? Last week he, Papa, and Uncle Dusty were in an area that had so many large carp (was it carp?) that Tanner was actually spearing them.? This weekend he went out on the boat and caught a big un (a Stryper)!?? He can’t wait to go again!

************************

Tanner was playing Webkinz the other day and won a new animal.? (Webkinz was showing a preview of the movie Hop and if kids answered all the questions correctly, they won a bunny pet.? Don’t you just love this marketing ploy?? Sheessh).? When he adopted his bunny he said “Mom I am going to name my bunny Hop”.? I didn’t follow that up with a response.?? Just grinned to myself.

The next day Noah was over.? He wanted Tanner to win him a bunny for his account.? I hear this conversation and boy did I giggle because my ever practical nephew said exactly what I had been thinking.

Tanner:? Noah I named my bunny Hop.

Noah:? Cool.? Most people probably do.

Later at lunch Noah tells me that he named his bunny Hop as well.? The he grins at me and says “well it IS a pretty good name”.? LOL.

I love my boys – every single one of them.? Tanner, Ty, Noah, Graham, Zane, Ryker, Cooper – oh so precious to my heart.

********************

Tanner finished Story of the World volume 2 and asked me to order volume 3 and 4.? How many years of history study does he plan on doing this year I wonder?

And one final BIG announcement….

It is OFFICIAL – as of TODAY – we are on the waiting list!!!!!! So how long will it be?? Don’t know.? The agency says they average 13 months but that hasn’t happened with us so far.

We got on the list with Ty in July of 2003 and six months later – Jan – he was born.

We got on the list Thanksgiving weekend 2007 with Tori and 2 months later she was born (and remember we only had 24 hour notice with her).

So could we get a call TODAY?? You just never know LOL.? Highly doubtful but stranger things have happened I suppose.? Either way, this week, this month, six months, one year – we are really excited for the baby that belongs here.? Thank you to those of you who were praying for me last week as I wrote that Dear Birthparent letter.? It was an emotional day and I struggled to get it done.? You would think after 10 years of being on this journey that it would get easier but that particular task is just not an easy one on any level.?? The great thing about it though was that it made me realize how deeply I am yearning for baby number 4.? How much I treasure this little life that is coming to us and how ridiculously excited I feel to see who he or she is going to be.? I can’t wait!
