Friends,
As you know, I don’t post prayer requests very often for non family members but there are times when someone’s need stirs my heart and I feel really compelled to help rally prayer support.
When Ty was in the NICU, one of his NICU buddies was a darling little preemie named Kourtney. You might remember praying for Kourtney along with Landen. Shayla, who you may recognize from her comments on this site, is Kourtney’s mama. Kourtney was baby number five for Shayla.
I was so excited for Shayla when she announced a couple of months ago via one of my posting comments, that she is expecting baby number six!
Shayla had an ultrasound last week that led Doctors to question the development of her precious little one. For obvious reasons, Shayla and her family are very anxious about this. While there is certainely reason to hope, no mom ever wants to hear “something isn’t right”.
Would you please join with me in praying for Shayla, her family and her baby? Shayla is at the beginning of her 2nd trimester now and will have many weeks before the full story is revealed. That is going to make the waiting very difficult. Please pray that God will just flood her and her family with His peace. Peace that calms her heart and reminds her He is in control of all things. While we acknowledge that God’s plan for baby will be perfect, there is no reason that we can’t approach Him with our pleading. I for one will plead on behalf of this baby. I know that Shayla and her family will submit to what God’s ultimate choice is and they will cherish this child despite any hardship that COULD occur but until God’s choice is clear, I am going to ask that He will intervene for this little one and bring the babies development up to speed as it should be.

Lord, along with Doni, and I’m sure many others who care for Shayla and her family, that you WOULD intervene on behalf of this child. We pray that what looks discouraging and maybe even frightening right now would turn into an amazing series of miracles. Let this little child, who rests in your hands, grow in health and strength every day – touch this baby as only your healing hands can and bring about FULL and complete and healthy growth.
May your hand of mercy rest on Shayla and her familiy. May they know you in a deeper more beautiful way than ever before. Draw them close to you, that the light of your love would shine brightly all around them. Comfort them in the midst of the storm we pray. Be near them with your hand of compassion – that in your compassion you would draw them to see you as never before and that they would sense your presence and your peace.
Be near to them Lord. Thank you for your mercies that are new EVERY morning and for your faithfulness.

For you created this child and you knit this baby together in Shayla’s womb. WE PRAISE you for that and that this baby is fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful. WE KNOW that full well. Your babies frame was not hidden from You when in the secret place. When You wove this little one together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw this unformed body. All the days are ordained for us and are written in Your book before any of us came to be. How precious to us our your thoughts oh God! How vast is the sum of them! If we were to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. This precious art work is yours Father God, protect this baby and gaurd the hearts and minds of those that love this new life and Lord grant them a peace that surmounts any understanding, a peace and comfort that is from you. Touch this baby, bless this family. In your name. Amen

Doni and Shayla,
Reading this just sent me back two years ago as we all gained our friendship while our babies held on tight to life. I will never forget the enormous support group we became for each other. The tears, prayers, anxiety, relief, our secret little meetings, the watchful eye when mommies were absent, the day Shayla got to take Kourtney home, the day Doni moved to the other hospital and took little Ty with her.
Shayla I will be praying for you and your baby, you can count on it. Never will I forget the devotion and support you and I were able to share a few weeks after we had left the NICU. There in the PICU where Kourtney and Landen ended up.
I know the strength you have as a mother and the special and sweet children the Lord has blessed you with. Please take care of yourself the best you know how and don’t loose your faith. If you need anything just call or email. doni knows how to get a hold of me.
