I failed to get a day 12 picture.? Sorry.? Busy day.? I didn’t want to get confused though so this is a placeholder post.? :)? For fun, I thought I would show you a shot of Troy in my blue bear hat.? On the left is a recent cutie pie newborn – Karson.? As you can see, he sports the hat perfectly.? The picture on the right is of Troy wearing it while still in the hospital last week.? (Nice of them to cover my bed in a nice textured blue blanket huh?).? As you can see, Troy will take a bit before he can model my newborn hats.? Isn’t that funny?? I had to pull it up because it actually fit over his entire head.
***********
Got the monitor this afternoon and Troy alarmed twice within an hour of having it on.? Having said that, I think it was a false alarm because he looked fine and seemed to be breathing to me (though he was sleeping deeply and maybe he paused longer than I thought).? Needless to say, I will be watching this.? I used to get loose lead alarms with Ty all the time but I didn’t get false apnea alarms.? This was not a loose lead alarm.? It was an actual apnea alarm and beeped about 3 times but as I said, I am questioning the monitor more than the baby.?? Monitor set as follows:? low heart rate is set at 60, high at 200 and 20 seconds for apnea.
Update:? Figured it out.? The therapist had a very funky way of putting the belt on.? I told him that we didn’t do it that way for Ty but he insisted.? In my gut, I had serious questions about his way.? I also reminded myself that I never got false apnea alarms with Ty.?? So I switched it to my way.? Didn’t get another alarm.??? Grrrrr.
***************
Ty robbed his first bank.
You think I am kidding?
Nope.? He really did.? And I laughed.? I couldn’t help myself.
Tuesday I had to go with Jim to the car dealership because we bought a new vehicle.? Our altima was at about 280,000 miles and we have been wanting to get rid of it before it bit the dust.?? (We bought a white 2001 4 door Toyota Tacoma 4 wheel drive).? Not where I wanted to be with a new baby but Jim needed a second driver.
While we were in the lobby Ty and Tori were checking the candy machines.? You never know, someone might have forgotten to take all of their M&Ms out of the dispenser – one must verify.? They asked us for money and we said no.?? A bit later I noticed Ty chowing down on 25 cent candy.? What on earth?? Did he break into the candy machine possibly?
I asked him how he got the candy out and he told me had had money.? This obviously begged the question of where the money came from.? He then hands me a ceramic piggy bank with the duct tape peeled off the bottom.? When I inquired as to where on earth he found this jackpot, the sales manager behind the desk pipes in “Actually that was on my desk.”
I vacillated between being horrified and greatly humored.? Only Ty.?? Gotta give him credit for finding a solution to his lack of funds dilemma but then had to explain that one cannot use someone else’s funds as a means to one’s end.?? And yes…we did reimburse the sales manager.
Have mercy.
Last night Jim and I had a discussion about Daddy teaching Ty some basic programming.? We are wondering if he may be gifted in this area and we need to funnel it rightly and quick before we have a hacker on our hands.? ๐
Because Ty seeks solutions (like his Dad), we do not give him free reign on the computer.? He knows how to use google and spells decently enough to surf like a pro.? We have guardian software installed at the router level but still that isn’t enough and only protects from some things.?? We have a program installed on the kids computer called Kidzui.? It is an internet browser (sort of) for children.? They can search on it but it only allows them to access Kidzui approved sites.? They can’t get out of Kidzui without a password.? Jim set Kidzui up so that it opens on startup.? As a result, Ty is locked out of anything but Kidzui.
Yesterday he was browsing the internet again.?? Hmmm…..
Jim, being the problem solver that he is, launched an investigation and what he discovered surprised us both.
Ty can’t get out of Kidzui but he can get to the Start menu.? From there he DELETED the kidzui application off the start up menu then restarted the computer.
Genius.
I never would have thought of that.? I questioned whether Ty actually planned it as well but according to Jim who sleuthed it out, he had to have known what he was doing to do it because the history proved deliberate actions and not random ones.? (Side note:? – Tanner loves the word “random” and finds ways to use it all the time)
This is why I go to Ty for technical issues when Jim isn’t home.? Also why we carefully guard our passwords and do our best to lock him out of the internet.? Jim was up for a while planning his next Ty proof strategy.? We have to stay several steps ahead of him and that isn’t an easy thing to do.? Daddy loves a good challenge though and Ty is sure to give it. ? ๐

Ty and Jonathan are a match made in heaven with their computer skills. It is pretty scary how much they know and can figure out at such young ages. We have had to block youtube and a few other sites and Jonathan figured out how to unblock youtube, but I blocked it again (from another program) and so far he hasn’t been able to unblock it again. I have to be careful with my passwords as well because of his almost photographic memory. Did I tell you the story about him having my debit card info all memorized? Scary!
Sarah – that is funny, but scary that he had your debit card info memorized ๐
Doni – Madison has to check for pics of Troy every day with me ๐ Troy and Karson somewhat resemble each other to me.
I love this liitle boy ๐
Only now I understand how tiny hi is.
oh my gosh, you have a smart cookie on your hands, I never would have thought of that one on my own. He is way ahead of me LOL….keep both eyes open for this one ๐ if he can figure this one out on his own, who knows what he can and will do next. Wishing you all the luck ๐ Little Troy, oh how sweet and how small he is. Thanks for the two pics it really put it into perspective how small he is. Just so you know one pic a day is NOT doing it for me ๐
Love this litte guy <3
have you looked into netnanny yet? it has been pretty great. you can have different logins and allowances for each person who uses the internet. you can set a default to ty’s limits to open up first. then you or jim or whomever would have to login each time they use the net and log out before ty sneaks in on your name. ๐ i liked it. what a smartie!!!
and troy… my goodness it’s hard for me to grasp your family with a new son! i NEED TO BE THERE AND EXPERIENCE THIS FAMILY OF SIX FOR MYSELF!!!! ๐ he is one heck of a cutie- that’s for sure!
oh my goodness! that bear hat totally shows his teeny tiny itty bittiness! so precious!
and i’ll have to be careful to not let Ty charm me into giving away any passwords hee hee
