All Okay

How do you like Tanner’s drawing? I love it! I was grateful that he put the names over the bodies so I didn’t have to guess. I thought the hair spikes were a very nice touch. When Brooke saw this picture on the fridge though she immediately noticed something that I didn’t. Tanner gave himself something that he did not give Ty. See it? And no…I am not referring to the fact that Tanner got legs LOL…I am referencing something else that a five year old would think of.

I have been so proud of my little man lately. He is just really growing up and maturing. He helps me so much with Ty and is an absolute joy to live with. Aunt Jodi gave me good news on Sunday. It was her turn to teach Children’s Church and she told me that for the first time Tanner was participating and answering questions! Yeah for Tanner! She later told me that in the past when she has called on Tanner in Children’s Church his eyes welled up with big crocodile tears! My boy is so shy! He just hates hates hates to be put on the spot. He definitely did not get this particular trait from mama! ๐Ÿ™‚ I think the fact that he was well aquainted with the bible story (Jonah) helped him because he was anxious to contribute his thoughts.

He is growing up so much that my Tanner stories are maturing too. The only thing I noticed that he say’s adorably wrong this week is: “Two-ged-err” as in “Do you want to do it together?”

Even his night time prayers are maturing. He is thankful for quite a list of things and I love listening to how he thanks the Lord for events throughout his day. Which reminds me…he still Say’s “Hell-fee” instead of healthy. I hear that every night. “Thank you Ty is hell-fee”. He is also getting concerned about Ty’s salvation and has mentioned to me that someday Ty will be a christian too:). Such a tender heart.

Ty

Ty isn’t angry much but when he is, it looks about like that ๐Ÿ™‚

I love it when Ty say’s:

“Take a baf tub?” = He doesn’t say just can I take a bath…it’s can I take a baf tub? Hee hee!

“Nuffin” = As in I don’t want nothing.

“Good Gracious!” = Sweetie taught him that and it has stuck.

“Oopsy or Oopsy Daisy”

“You punk!….You precious!” = His uncles taught him to say “You punk” but he hasn’t learned who he can and can’t say that to. Papa taught him to say “You Precious” if he is talking to him or Sweetie. Quite Funny to hear. Especially when he forgets and calls Papa a punk and then quickly changes it to “You Precious” with a big grin.

Since Tanner has been learning phonics you often hear him say things like “Tree….ttttttttttreeee….tree starts with tttttttttt.” So know Ty is going around trying to copy but he emphasizes the ends of words instead. So much so it is developing into a habit. For example: “Go to churchchchchch”, “Want a drink kkkkkkkk” . Jim and I have been laughing about that.

Ty’s memory is so great. He continually impresses me with what he remembers. Here are some recent examples:

Last month Jim’s work paid for us to go to The Pointe for the weekend. Before we got there I mentioned to Tanner that our hotel was only a few blocks from Grandma’s house. (Grandma’s house in Ahwatukee, AZ).

When we arrived, I took Ty out of the car seat and put him down. He looked around as if evaluating everything and then said “Chicago? Grandma?” I was stunned. Obviously he was paying attention to my earlier conversation with Tanner. I was totally floored that he knew that Grandma was in Chicago right now and if our hotel was near Grandma’s house than we must be in Chicago. Isn’t that weird?

Or how about last week when we were having the Dunn family over for dinner. Before bed the night before I told the boys that Malakai would be coming the next day. Ty’s say’s “And Matt? And Amanda?” How did my two year old remember Malakai’s parents names? Well…he is a bit in love with Amanda:)

Or yesterday when he brought me a plastic bag from his McDonald’s happy meal and same “Game Boy”? I looked at the bag and sure enough the “Nintendo” label was on the bag.

Or this….last night Tanner asked me (as he always does) what we were going to do today. I told him that Daddy needed to put our car in the shop so we would have to get up early and pick him up from the car shop and take him to work. This morning I have to carry a still sleeping Tanner to the car (sidepoint – at 5 years of age he still tucks his arms under when I carry him – love it). When I picked up Ty, with a sleepy eyed grin he say’s “Mommy’s Here!” then he add’s “Dropping Daddy off?” He doesn’t miss a beat.

Ty is learning to pray on his own now too. Usually he just say’s “Jesus thank you for daddy and Tanner and mommy and Ty AMEN.” One day he added the truck, camping and church to his list all on his own too:).

He has actually been bruising his head in his crib lately. He sleeps so still and he always pushes his head into the corner of the crib. This week when I have been getting him up he has had deep angry red imprints in his forehead from the crib rail. How could he sleep like that? It has to be painful! I thought about putting bumpers back up but if he is pressing into the sides this much I don’t want him to bury his face in the bumpers.

A few other Ty “cuties”:

Because of Ty’s choking tendencies and other behaviors, I am continually calling him and saying “Ty! Are you okay?” This week when he hears me calling him he has started yelling back “I AM OKAY!” LOL.

The other morning he woke up in his crib and I didn’t go get him right away because I was in the middle of something. When I walked in a few minutes later he was not pleased with me for taking longer to get him. He wanted down right away because he had places to go and things to do. As he was pitter pattering down the hall I heard him mumble “I missed you!” It was so adorable. Then when we were camping I heard him knocking on Sweetie’s trailer one morning say “Sweetie! Come on! I miss you!” Such a lover.

And my most favorite Ty line as of late:

Jim was eating pudding the other night and Ty wanted a bite. If you refuse a bite of dessert to a two year old you had better be prepared to put them to bed or something otherwise they will stand there harassing you until eternity. Realizing this, Jim gave him a bite. Ty then said “Uh…I am going to need some more of that.”

That is the best!

(And for future generations that read this…tears and prayers for Terri, Bendi, and Bob….Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter will be greatly missed!)

  5. What I would do to be “hell-free….”

Hey Ty… Is this what you were trying to say?

There are times in life when you gotta crawl…lose your grip, trip and fall…when you can’t lean on no one else, that’s when you find yourself. I’ve been around and I can tell…walking’s easy when the road is flat…them danged ole hills will get you every time. The good Lord gave us mountains so we learn how to crawl…

I see that song in your video scrapbook. . . Doni, I see now what you mean. Sometimes words and pictures just won’t do. Mom’s should be built w/ an on-board video camera option!
