Does anyone have a really good general practice Dr. in the North Phoenix valley??? I need to make an appointment with a rhumatologist but they won’t take me without a referral from?? my primary Dr. and I don’t have a Dr.?? Haven’t seen one in a few years and I was on an HMO plan back then.?? Now I am on an open PPO so I can see anyone who takes Pacificare PPO (seems most do thankfully).?? I have no idea how to “choose” a Dr. without any reference.

I don’t live in AZ, but my dad ran into the same situation with athritis specialists here in MN a while back. He looked in the local phone book, then took a list of names to his regular doctor. Also, you could do the same thing, only take a list or send a list to your kids’ doctors…they might be able to point you in the right/best direction. I’m not sure if this’ll help or not, but it was worth a shot.

i think i’d pick someone convenient and close to home and just “try” them. 🙂 not sure that’s the best option, but that’s what i’d do. 🙂 HEY – NO MATH QUESTION! YOU MUST HAVE CHANGED IT…. I’LL GO TO THAT THREAD NOW. 🙂
by the way, the rheumatoligists I’d seen in phx were dr. tesser, dr. bhala… and dr. lisa something diagnosed me.. i always called her dr. lisa and can’t think of her last name now…

The family doctor that all of my family and all the children go to is Sobel Family Medicine. They are at Tatum and Shea though. Larry Sobel is the MD and Bruce Sobel is the DO. They also have a nurse practitioner that we love, her name is Diana Salor. 602-996-6668 Diana is usually the easier one to get an immediate appointment with. We have been seeing these doctors since I can remember, we all really like them.
