Mom’s Play Time

I have not had the mental aptitude to take on any challenging tasks this week with a house full of sick kids so this morning I decided I was just going to play instead.?? Tori colored at her desk beside me, the baby crawled all over my bedroom and I painted.?? I started this piece several months ago when I was first inspired to do a tea party themed room for Tori.?? Initially, I wanted to make a series out of this and then display them in her room but I ran out of wall space and abandoned the project.?? In starting my 2011 Album, I came across my inspiration files for this and decided that I needed to finish at least one for the kids album.?? I haven’t painted in such a long time and it was so peaceful and theraputic.

The teacups are ones that my mother gave me many years ago.?? They actually have roses on them but I removed them for this project.?? I took the pictures of the kids with the outcome in mind except for the shot of Troy which was taken from his newborn hammock shot.?? My first inspiration board last September didn’t include the food display and I didn’t move forward in part because I knew something was missing.?? Because I am getting ready to ATTEMPT fondant cakes for the kids party (IF we ever manage to have it that is…sigh), it occured to me that fun food was the piece missing from the picture.???? I found an assortment of decadent dessert pictures and wallah.?? At the very end I realized my tea cup piece really needed a rabbit so I added that last.

That was fun to do and the kids think it’s a hoot so they’ll love it in our 2011 Family Album.
