I intended to wait on this posting until I got Ty’s 3 year pictures done but it’s now Feb and I still haven’t done it.?? I’ll have to post them later.?? Life just gets too busy doesn’t it???I don’t want to delay on this posting any longer though because it is an exciting one!!!!
Pictured above is Ty with his favorite birthday dessert (cupcakes) blowing out candles with Uncle Dusty.?? We had a packed house for Ty’s party.?? Please don’t feel bad if you read this and think “Hey we didn’t get an invite”.?? All due to having a very large family.?? Here was the guest list:?? Daddy, Mommy, Tanner, Ty, Papa, Sweetie, Grandma, Zandi, Daniel, Brooke, Noah, Graham, Braxtyn, Darin, Jodi, Karsyn, Dusty, Michelle, Jamie, Aunt Beck, Uncle Dave, Jenna, Rob, Kat, Aviel, Little Grandma (Pat), Great Grandpa (Ike), Cheri, Cathy (Cheri’s cousin), Amanda, Cristian, Brittany, Brittany’s baby, Steve, Brenda, Michelle, Susie, Ryan, Jacob, Sarah, Brayden, Matt, Amanda, Malaki, Tom, Kristi, Beau, and Luke.??Total??= 48 (and we had about 5 family members unable to attend too).?? Standing room only at our house.

And Now……OUR BIG NEWS!!!!!
Ty age 3 – 39 inches tall and 32 pounds
In December, we were scheduled for a full team evaluation on Ty to determine what level of special need support he would qualify for after he turned 3.?? In the state of AZ, the early development state programs pay for children to get therapy until they are 3.?? Once they turn three though they are??transitioned to the public school system.?? As you can guess, I wasn’t big on that.?? I decided to??have??Ty evaluated anyhow though because if his evaluation proved that his needs were more than I could accomodate at home, I may have to use the public school system.?? (We would have been paying 600.00 a week if we had to pay for all Ty’s therapies that he had privately).
On testing day, he saw a PT, OT,??FT,??ST, Special Needs Supv, and a Behavioral Therapist.?? When he introduced himself as “Mr. The Incredible”, I knew we were off to a good start.?? They tested him in every area and read??all the survey’s that I completed??on him.?? I giggled as he drew a perfect circle for the OT and strung beads, as he chewed food carefully for the FT, and as he??jabbered his little head off to the ST.??
At the end of the evaluation, he qualified for PT because while he passed most of this eval, he couldn’t catch or jump and those two items kept reappearing in the different sections.?? I wonder if his CVI keeps him from catching well??? He did learn to jump though on his third birthday while watching American Idol!!!!?? Go Ty.
He qualified for OT due to some mild sensory issues that they observed.
HOWEVER
The evaluators apologized to me because they all determined that Ty didn’t qualify for ANY yes I said ANY level of public school assistance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you believe it????? AND they apologized for it??????? LOL!!!!?? While he qualified in 2 small areas, they have a special system of weighing the different evals and PT, and sensory issues were not enough to qualify Ty for even the most basic level of developmental preschool!!!!!!!?? As of his third birthday, Ty is now THERAPY FREE!!!!?? YEAH!!!!!!
I walked on cloud 9 that day!!!!!?? Who ever would have believed it??? All that we went through with this little monkey and he blew his three year old testing out of the water!!!?? What would his NICU Dr.s and nurses think of this??? I may have to write them a letter!!!
At the age of 3, Ty does have some preemie related issues still.?? Mild CP, lower field CVI, mild sensory issues, some eating issues (we have a really hard time getting Ty to eat and we may need to put him on Ensure soon).?? None of these things though are even severe enough to qualify him for the basic level of developmental preschool.?? GOD IS GOOD!!!!!!!!
