Week of Freedom

Jim had all week off work.?? It was too rainy to go jeeping like we wanted plus the kids have been sick so we mostly just relaxed.?? Tanner finally broke his fever on Wed.?? Good grief that was a long high fever – it went 7 full days.?? Ty now has a really junky cough but no fever.?? Thought I would share a few funnies from the week and show you some pictures.

Tanner

As you might recall from December conversations, we are not bonded to Santa in this family.?? I was concerned last month about converations with Tanner and Noah.?? The believer and the unbeliever.?? They never happened and I never said a word about it one way or the other.?? Boy was I in for a surprise.

One day last week I was loading the boys into the car.?? Tanner mentioned something about Santa out of the blue.?? Rare.?? Here was our conversation:

D = Tanner do you think Santa is real?

T = Uh huh (yes)

D = You do??? Hmmmmm.?? (With a smile and a sparkle because I just couldn’t resist this question..) If you believe in Santa, how come he doesn’t bring you any gifts at Christmas???

T = (Looking at me with a “duh – you should know” expression)?? It’s too hot here!

LOL!!!!!?? I shut my mouth and didn’t say another word.?? Guess he has it all figured out.

??

Ty??

How will you be paying?

Funny the things kids pay attention to.?? Recently, mom was in the kitchen with Dusty and Dusty was paying her back some money he had borrowed.?? Ty walks in, see’s the exchange, and say’s “You payin wif cash?”.?? LOL!??

Attention Deficit and Agenda Difference’s

Sometimes Ty and I are an impossible combination.?? We both struggle to keep our attention together and we both think our agenda’s need priority.?? This recent bedtime conversation will illustrate this well.?? This conversation took place while Tanner was sick and Ty wasn’t sure Tanner should be getting preferential treatment ๐Ÿ˜‰ .

T = Can I sleep in your bed?

D = No. You are sleeping in your crib.?? Do you want your socks on?

T = Is Tanner sleeping in your bed?

D = I don’t know.?? Do you want your socks on?

T = Is Tanner going to sleep in your room?

D = I said I don’t know.?? Do you want your socks on?

T = Is Tanner going to sleep in your bed??? Is he gonna sleep in your room?

D = TY!?? My agenda comes first!?? What did mama just ask you?

T = Do I want my socks on.

D= Well DO YOU?

T = Yes.?? Is Tanner going to sleep in your bed?

Shhhhheeeeeeshh!!!!!

The Truth

On Tuesday, when we got home from BSF, we sat down for lunch with Daddy.?? Jim and Ty begin discussing Ty’s day.?? Here is how that played out.

J = Did you have a good time at BSF today?

T = Yep

J = Did you play with friends?

T = Yep

J = Did you play with toys?

T = Yep

J = Did you sing songs?

T = Yep

J = Did you hear a story about Jesus?

T??= Yep

J = Did you obey your teacher?

T = Yep

J = Did she say anything to you today?

T = Yep.?? She said “HEY!?? WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!”

And then Jim and I looked at each other laughing hilariously quite certain Ty was telling the whole truth. ๐Ÿ™‚

Does anyone know the Turtle song???

Ty keeps trying to sing the song about the little turtle but I don’t know it.?? Can anyone help me out here?

Day at the Phoenix Zoo

Mommy likes the monkey’s ๐Ÿ™‚

We also went to the Mesa Southwest Museum this week because Tanner heard it had dinosaur bones.?? It was pretty fun.

Eating at Cocoa’s

That’s a wooly mammoth

Tanner and I with the triceratop

Boys with Grandma and the TRex

Ty at Rawhide

We ate at Rawhide for dinner.?? A balloon guy came around and asked the boy’s what they wanted.?? Naturally, Tanner asks for a dinosaur and Ty asks for Mr. The Incredible.?? I laughed figuring the guy wouldn’t be able to make Mr. Incredible.?? Boy was I impressed.

Now I am off to shower and grocery shop with Ty.?? THAT should be fun.?? Daddy and Tanner are helping Grandma move stuff than they are going to an XBox and UFC fight night party.?? Doesn’t that sound fun??? (NOT!)

  6. Hi, I have been following your site for quite some time. Ty is such an inspiration! I have a 5 year old and an almost 3 year old and they both love the little turtle song, too. I hope it’s the same one:
    There was a little turtle, his name was tiny Tim. I put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim. He drank up all the water, he ate up all the soap, now he’s sick in bed with a bubble in his throat.
    Bubble, bubble, bubble. Bubble, bubble, bubble. Bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble, bubble……POP! There are hand motions to go along with it. Maybe a search online would find them?
    Good luck!
    Amanda Graves

  7. ooo! maybe that IS the turtle song! i’d almost forgotten you asked.

    there was one i loved when i was a kid and i can’t remember all the words – something about:

    myrtle mcwyrtle the turtle
    crawled all around in a circle…

    (anyone know the rest?)

  8. This is the little turtle song I sing with my classroom of 5 year olds. Not sure if this is the one or not.

    There was a little turtle
    That lived in a box. (put hands together to make a box)
    He swam in a puddle, (make swimming movements)
    And he climbed on the rocks.
    He snapped at a mosquito, (snap your fingers)
    He snapped at a flea, (snap your fingers)
    He snapped at a minnow, (snap your fingers)
    And he snapped at me. (snap your fingers)
    He caught the mosquito, (clap)
    He caught the flea, (clap)
    He caught the minnow, (clap)
    But he didn’t catch me!! (make a proud face)

  9. Yeah Carrie and Amanda! The song that Amanda wrote out is one that I have tried to remember for years and the one that Carrie typed IS the one Ty is trying to sing! Thank you thank you ladies!

  10. Doni, There is also the version about Miss Suzy, that was real popular and you could be trying to remember that one.
    Miss Suzy had a baby she named him Tiny Tim she put him in the bathtub to see if he could swim. He drank up all the water he ate up all the soap he tried to eat the bathtub but it wouldn’t go down his throat. Miss Suzy called the Doctor, the doctor called the nurse, the nurse called the lady with the alligator purse. I don’t remember all of it but I think Tim eat the doctor and the nurse and he even ate the lady with the alligator purse.
    What kind of rhyme is that anyway?? You know a lot of the songs and rhymes I used to sing when I was little are really quite disturbing.
    And Heidi, I don’t know your song but I do know about Myrtle the Turtle.
