I’ll Have That Decaf

Yesterday morning I was in my usual rush getting three people ready for church.?? I gave Ty his breakfast and his chocolate milk and disappeared into my room to finish getting ready.?? A few minutes later I walk back into the kitchen.?? Ty holds out his chocolate milk to me and says “Decaf two shots.”

Apparently, Ty has tagged along on one too many Starbucks trips LOL!

Last week my monkey was making me a wee bit crazy!?? His button pushing is making me truly nuts.?? I just can’t stop it.?? I have been super consistent with discipline over this but alas…sigh…to no avail.?? I called my Pastor to discus this ;).?? He said I was just as bad as a child and that it will take 2 to 3 more years of consistency to really get my message across.?? Great.?? Can I get that in writing please?

He is still begging for Mr. “the” Incredible all the time (much to Tanner’s chagrin) and he does the cutest little excited dance every time I put the DVD in for him.?? Yesterday during Sunday School all the kids were supposed to pretend to be animals and Ty refused.?? He would only pretend to be Mr. “the” Incredible.?? We talked him into watching Empire Strikes Back one day though and I giggled when I heard him say “Oh this is going to be so much fun!”?? He is such an expressor like his mama!

The Art of Distraction

The kid will NOT leave my cell phone alone (nor anyone else’s).?? He loves it.?? When I first got this phone I had fun adding ring tones.?? I picked “Word of God Speak” by Mercy Me and “Child of Mine” by Mark Schultz.?? Probably not popular picks ๐Ÿ™‚ .?? You should see the looks I get when my phone rings in public!?? Too funny!?? Once in awhile though it turns out to be a great conversation starter.?? Can you imagine standing next to someone in the grocery store line and all the sudden hearing these lyrics “Word of God speak…would you pour down like rain, washing my eyes to see, your majesty”??? This can be highly entertaining.

So Ty got to my cell phone this week and managed to call himself.?? I find him in my bedroom with the cell in his hands.?? Knowing he is in big trouble and trying quickly to distract my attention he says “It was just God speak!?? It was just God speak!?? No mommy.?? It was just GOD speak!”?? ๐Ÿ˜€

Yesterday when we got the boys home from church, Ty as usual says “It’s not my nappy time.?? It’s my wake up time.”?? I then respond with mommy’s usual, “Yes it is your nappy time Ty”.?? When we walk in the door, he walks over to the couch and says “I think I need to rest for a little while…(pause)…in there (pointing to the couch).???? Did he really think that was going to work??? No doubt he is intelligent though ๐Ÿ™‚

Commercials

I forgot to add this one to the recent jingle list:

EA Sports!?? It’s in the game!?? (I assume that is on XBox?)

Reading

Tanner is over halfway through his reading book now and he is doing great.?? His comprehension is remarkable (I think).?? I didn’t dedicate ourselves to this task until January and now that I am being consistent with teaching him daily, it really is working out nicely – more than nicely – I love it.?? Both Tanner and I were surprised though when I held up word flash cards for Tanner and Ty instantly said “Rat”.?? He was correct.?? Tanner and I just stared at each other wide eyed “How did he know that?!”?? I am going to love schooling both boys together because Tanner really likes Ty near during teaching times and Ty loves to be involved.?? I think this will work out nicely.?? Apparently Ty will learn through osmosis so I am fine with that ๐Ÿ˜‰ .

Sunday School

Brooke and my friend Kristi started teaching the 2-5 Sunday School Class at our church recently.?? I have been very excited about having both my good friend and SIL teach my boys.?? I also can depend on them to tell me what they are up to and the boys know they have to obey Aunt Brooke (or she’ll tattle ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).

Yesterday while sitting at lunch, Ty was asked what he learned in Sunday School.?? Without hesitation he said “To not get out of my chair”.?? ๐Ÿ˜€

I later called both Brooke and Kristi for a parent teacher conference.?? In Pollyanna like fashion, I submitted my suggested goals for next week.?? No wiggling during bible time, being quiet when asked, and refraining from button pushing are my top three in no particular order.?? Remembering his Sunday School lesson would be really great but I’ll take these practical helps too!?? LOL

Update on Alex:?? Alex is being moved to Craig’s in Denver tomorrow for rehab.?? He has a trach right now and has not had any significant improvement in regards to his paralysis.?? We are still holding on to hope though.

Update on Jolley’s:?? Ferris was released from rehab this weekend and is back home with the family!?? Yeah!??
