Good News:
The shot did arrive yesterday and the nurse is scheduled to come out and give the shot today! Remember how I told you that Ty’s buddy was in the hospital with RSV? His mama emailed me today and told me that he is going home today but still not out of the woods. He was late on his RSV shot last month and he caught the dreaded virus in quick order. His mama told me to do whatever I had to do to GET TY’s SHOT ON TIME. Thankfully, it appears it is going to happen.
Aggravating News:
So this morning I call the pharmacy (different pharmacy) that makes Ty’s special aldactizide compound. They are in Chandler. We use the one in Chandler because we hate the one in Phoenix and Jim works close to the Chandler location. I ordered a refill on this drug on Wed and it was supposed to be ready yesterday. Jim has worked from home all week so I was trying to figure out how to coordinate getting to Chandler to pick up today. I called to verify it was done. I should not have had to do this but I have learned my lesson time and time again because this location fails me continually (I wrote about that last month too…Jim waiting around for the drug that was on the back counter…remember that one?).
When I called it was not ready (naturally) and they said “Oh you need a refill. Sorry we need a prescription to refill from you Dr. first.” In a very low tone enunciating each word very carefully I demanded to know why they did not call to tell me this when the drug was supposed to have been picked up yesterday???” Yadda Yadda Yadda…”so sorry” said in the most insincere voice with the added reassurance that I was simply out of luck without a call from the Dr.
Folks…drained of all energy I just sat on the line in dead silence. You can only imagine the thoughts swimming through my head. In a quiet voice I simply said “I am finished with your company and will refill somewhere else. You have created this situation for me one too many times…good bye.”
So now…off to make phone c alls again, first to get a new prescription then to find a new pharmacist that can make this drug. I would like to just wean him but the last time I tried that his sats dropped in a hurry.
Note to Heidi: The pediatrician actually has nothing to do with our RSV shot short of giving me the prescription. Our insurance company requires us to use a specific drug company as this is an extreme specialty medication made only in specific locations. In our case it is made in Redlands, CA and I didn’t have anyone to send to get it:) though I could use a CA trip at the moment! LOL.

I’m a little like you. When I’ve REALLY had it I go silent. I KNOW what sort of seething was going on underneath that quiet exterior! I feel for you.
Well, too bad your pediatrician can’t intervene – that is a bummer. And the office the nurse comes from apparently isn’t an option either. Ugg….
I like your idea of going to California to personally pick it up best. Too bad that wouldn’t be easier. If I knew anyone who lived in Redland I would beg them to go on your behalf. Hey – maybe IIIII should go to California! 🙂
Doni – I know that it would be a long drive but I used to use the same pharmacy in Chandler and hated them too. They have a branch on Greenfield and Guadalupe that I love!!! They were always fantastic, quick, and helpful. Never had a problem. Just a thought.
