To my Phoenix friends,
Yesterday I was in Target and found this rectangular metal sign approximately 3 feet in length by 8 or 10 inches high.?? It was at the end of one of the photo frame isles and it said in a scripty font “babies fill a place in your heart you didn’t know you had”.?? At the Target on 7th St and Bell they had this sign in a baby blue but I am wondering if they have it in baby pink??? If you visit your local Target soon and notice that sign in pink, would you tell me right away??? They did have a baby pink one that said “Sweet Dreams” and I might settle for that one if I can’t find the other.
This week Heidi and I were talking on the phone and I was telling her how having a baby girl is so different than having boys.?? She asked me to explain and I had trouble defining it.?? Reminds me of a line in one of my favorite movies Fools Rush in when Matt Perry says to Salma Hayek “You are the one I never knew I always wanted”?? :)?? – also why I like the above sign as applied to having a baby girl.
I have always wanted a girl but knew I wouldn’t be devasted if I never had one because I L O V E being a boy mom – absolutely L O V E it.?? Having four brothers conditioned me for it and I think I dreamed of boys even more than girls.?? So while I was hoping for a girl, I wanted a third boy as well.
It wasn’t until I actually had Tori though that I realized what a deep part of me longed for her.?? It really is a different experience for me.?? Keep in mind, my experience has been ALL boy – four brothers and two sons.?? When the Dr. walked into the room this week, he took one look at us and said “You kiss that baby too much” ;).?? He also made a point to mention that it was very clear to him how bonded Tori is to mama.?? 🙂 :)?? We are just in love with each other.
Now for all you boy mom’s…I have to add this.?? :)?? God is a sovereign God and if you only have boys then I think God only reserved boy spots in your heart so you aren’t missing anything.?? :)?? This isn’t a comparison between boys and girls.?? My boy spots in my heart might not be completely filled up yet either:).?? God may gift me with another boy someday and that will make me very happy.?? For today though, I am just reveling in this new experience of being a mama to a baby girl and well….Tori fills a place in my heart that I didn’t know was empty…and I am loving it.

Doni, as I read I cry. I totally feel that way too. There is an empty part in my heart that needs to be filled. I am hoping that will be a baby girl. As you know I have 2 boys and I know exactly what you are talking about. Love love love my boys dearly but a baby girl would just complete me. Enjoy it all Doni, you so deserve it.
Uh…didn’t say I was “completed” quite yet. 😉 I am hoping there is at least one more baby spot in my heart with a boy or girl name on it but we shall see LOL. Don’t really want to “go there” for at least 2 years though.
I will look at my Target to see if the sign is there. You know I have always been happy with my boys. Always wanted boys. The only part of me that misses having a daughter is the fact that Eric wanted and still wants a little girl and the fact that I still have boxes of little trinkets of mine that I thought I would pass on to my daughter. I am so happy you are enjoying your precious girl. I cannot wait to meet her.
You will never have to “define” this feeling to me! I GET IT!! Undescribable!
I too ‘know’ that indescribable feeling. For me though it’s opposite..it’s for my boy 😉

i know EXACTLY how you feel. i found your site when i was due in may of 04. since then i have had another boy (11/06) and just had a baby girl. every song i hear on the radio is different now. i hear so much more!!! and i LOVE my boys with all my heart and actually wanted another one…but i can’t explain it either. i can’t imagine not having her. i’m scared to death of the future…but i’m so excited, too!
Only because I love you… as soon as I read your post this morning I jumped on destination wagon in search of this sign that caught your eye at Target. It took over seven different phone calls and two corporate calls, but I was able to obtain some information.
1.) the item you want is only on clearance
2.) none of the Targets I called have this item in pink
3.) I had to get kinda demanding with costumer service, but I was able to obtain a web address for you.
4.) I searched the address and found your item in PINK

Check it out the price is actually reasonable if you decide you really want it, the only problem is that they are located in Provo so there is the catch of shipping and handling.
Good Job, Susie. I actually looked at my Target today and didn’t even see the blue one. I came home and looked at Target.com and was doing a search on Ebay when I thought I should come in here and see if anyone found it.

That would (unfortunately) be very labor intensive because the font is flat on the paint and would be a nightmare to paint around. Besides that, if I give my poor MIL one more project before she leaves for Chicago in a couple weeks, she is going to kill me. 🙂
Doni, I sent you an email from Ebay with someone handpainting those signs with the same verse. You can choose the color you want. Did you get it? If not I can send it again.
GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrGrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. O.k., I will call the company in the morning and find out what stores carry the sign, you know this will bug me until I figure it out. Man, and we were so close.
ebay sounds like a great option!
