Cute as a Button

Something is bugging me about digital scrapbook sites lately.?? The trend seems to be to spend more time on the page than the picture.?? Most of the page is all patterns and embellisments and then you get this 3 inch picture somewhere.?? Why do that??? I want the page to be about the picture and the embellishment just extra – guess I will have to stay out of trend – I live there anyhow.?? :)?? I am sure that once in awhile I will get so excited about a page that I will give more attention to it but right now I just want to see my kids…preferabbly on a big screen :)!?? (Not THE big screen as in movies mind you – I meant I like to make DVDs so I can see the pictures on OUR 62 inch) ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a busy week – good thing we are on school break.?? Been working on several small projects for Miss Tori’s room.?? Today I need to paint shelves and fan blades so wish me luck.?? AIT is at 11:30 so I better get hoppin.?? By the way, I don’t know when you’ll see pictures of Tori’s room – depends on how far we get next week.??

Yesterday I tried doing pictures of Tori and she was most uncooperative.?? She was having a “just hold” me day and didn’t want to be put down for pictures.?? Throughout the day I did get a few in short segments but I probably will not be sharing them next week because I got some very cute pictures of Tanner that I will probably put up next week.?? A black and white collection and “The Yellow Hat” collection.?? Papa bought him a yellow hat to wear fishing and he has barely taken it off.?? I have bought him very few hats because I hate to go out and cover his glorious hair!?? ๐Ÿ˜‰

One more thing…a friend of mine, Sammie, sent??me a link to a dress pattern yesterday using a men’s dress shirt.?? If you sew, this looks very easy.?? In my case, I am simply dropping hints to Aunts and Mothers.?? I can’t thread a sewing machine to save my life.?? I gave my machine to Aunt Beck after my last attempt that ended with the bobbin being thrown across the kitchen!?? Grrrrrrrr!???? (Susie you should sooooooo do this for your girls!)?? I did however sew an over the top bow last night but I did it by hand.??

HERE??is the link – you gotta check it out!

Hey, does anyone know where you can buy fancy embellished mop caps for baby girls??? I have looked all over the net and can’t find a good selection of them anywhere.?? (A mop cap is like a Betsy Ross hat).?? I have seen patterns to make one but none for sale (that are what I want).?? Anne Geddes has some pictures of babies in metal tins with these pale pink, ruffled, over the top mop caps on and I love those pictures.?? Perfect for about 8 months old.?? Keeping an eye out for them.

Okay so that wasn’t quite the last thing…this is.?? This bow making is getting a little excessive when (a) I pretty much own a ribbon store but feel free to give me more if you have extra that you don’t know what to do with :)?? (b) I am thinking about bows way too much (c) I am dreaming about bows.?? Last night I dreamed that I was talking to a little girl of about 6.?? She was adorable and was wearing the same dress that??Tori had on last week.?? (White sundress with blue and green polka dots that Rob and Cat bought her).?? I made a matching bow and found a ribbon that matched – very cool find.?? Anyhow, this little girl opened her mouth and it looked like her tongue was painted white with large blue and green polka dots.?? What in the world?????? Then she started blowing bubbes and…you guessed it…blue and green polka dot bubbles floated from her delicate lips into the air above me.?? It was quite a site!?? I should write Charlie and the Chocolate Factory II – apparently I have a wild enough imagination for it LOL.

  1. ps – you must post pictures or a link to pictures of the kind of hat you are talking about. thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. OK, so I didn’t make a comment after I saw this one because I looked at it way too late…but – this is my favorite pics of Tori. Oh my goodness, I absolutely love, love, love them. She looks adorable. I really need this one printed and on my refrigerator, don’t you think?! What a doll. I think you did the perfect balance of embellishment on the scrapbook while the focus is totally on Tori! This kind of makes me happy this is a closed adoption – who couldn’t see her and fall head over hills in love. God definetely used your pattern when fashioning her, she looks so much like Sweetie and you. We need some update pictures of Ryker now. Can’t wait to see these two cousins side by side!!!

    Lovin’ you,

    Aunt Beck

  3. You might have more luck if you goggle mob cap– I think that is what they are called. I made one for myself as part of a costume once and I am NOT crafty. I took a circle of fabric, cut slits in a circle about two inches from the edge and threaded a ribbon through it. It looked like a drawsting bag. Then I put it on my head and tied a bow in the ribbon to keep it on. Maybe you could modify that a bit and come up with something you like?

  4. LOL Jordan. So I had to do a little research because most of what I wanted came up under “mop” cap – not mob. So I went to wikipedia to see if I could figure out which was correct and it is mob but apparently many people think it is “mop” because most of what I found was under “mop”. Weird. ๐Ÿ™‚ Good idea too – thanks.

  5. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was thinking they were called Mob caps and had been trying to figure out if I was wrong on that. So glad to know I wasn’t wrong. All that historical reading has paid off.
