Prunaprismia

I know I know…how many pictures of her feet can I possibly take.?? Can’t help it.

??Last week I decided to start reading Prince Caspian (2nd book in Chronicles of Narnia story – if you don’t know this you live under a rock ๐Ÿ™‚ ).?? I loved this series when I was young and have been anxious to read it to my children.?? Since Prince Caspian is coming out this month, I thought it would be fun to read it first.?? I want the boys to realize that if you want the REAL story, you have to read because a book is always more interesting than the movie.?? (Sadly Jim does not agree but don’t tell my boys this) :)?? Eragon was a good example.?? I loved the movie but the book was MUCH better.??

I wasn’t sure if Tanner at 6 could really take the story in yet but he is LOVING it.?? Every night when I read he begs me to read more and says “tomorrow is too long to wait”.?? I am so happy that he is loving books.?? Today during school we were reading a children’s book that is 3 chapters and 65 pages long.?? I told Tanner he needed to read to me for 20 minutes and he said “how about 25”.?? ๐Ÿ™‚ :)?? At 20 minutes it was more convenient for me to stop so I attempted to close the book thinking he wouldn’t notice.?? He did.?? He read another 5 minutes.?? I think 20 to 30?? minutes of him reading to me a day is pretty good for a first grader.?? Reading is not his strongest area – he is more math minded but I am happy with how well he is doing.

When we were reading the other night,??we read that Prince Caspian’s Aunt was “Queen Prunaprismia”.?? You always wonder if your kids are listening but I often realize that Tanner pays close attention because he interrupts and asks questions frequently.?? When I read that particular name, he, apparently didn’t believe me and asked to see it for himself.?? :)?? Tanner and I have started calling Tori “Queen Prunaprismia” when she gets fussy.?? When I get a really good fussy picture I’ll have to post that title.?? (Hey Brooke – there is another chicken name idea.?? Penelope and Prunaprismia.?? Tell Noah that Tanner loves it??;) ).

On the topic of movies….

Tori went to her very first movie last week.?? I took Jenna, Tanner, Ty, and Tori to see The Spiderwick Chronicles.?? We all really liked it!?? Tori did great.?? The clock is ticking for how long I can take her to a movie and satisfy her with a bottle so I thought I better try it while I had the chance.?? I would issue a warning though that if your little ones scare easy, this may not be a great movie for them yet.?? There were some scary creatures.?? My boys are not sensitive to that so they were fine.?? They must get their love of fantasy from both daddy and mommy. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. giggling at the ideas for chicken names! love that!

and the sweet toes – TAKE TONS OF THOSE PICTURES! THEY ARE TOO PRECIOUS! this reminded me of a little outfit my mom saved from when i was little. embroidered on the soles of the feet were these words (one on each foot) “sweet feet” – you need to title the next one with those words. ๐Ÿ™‚

i want seth to love reading too… but i don’t read to him enough. he enjoys short books but long ones without pictures are, i think, too far for him… i think he would get frustrated. he’s such a visual boy… but i’m hoping! maybe i need to make him hear narnia by book first – maybe knowing the movie is coming would inspire him to listen.

  2. I love, love, love this picture. Her toes look absolutely adorable. I am proud of
Tanner for loving to hear you read. Louise Wolfe read to us children during prayer meeting every Wednesday night from the Sugar Creek Gang and I could hardly wait for the next week. I think that is a great way to start a love of reading. Good job, Mom!
