Tori still will only take a wub a nub.?? Pink pony is on the list of BFFs right now.

In the mornings during school time we have been working on memory verses.?? We try to add a new one every week or two.?? Last weeks verse was Isaiah 41:10:

Fear not for I am with you.????Be not??dismayed for I am your God.?? I will strengthen you.?? I will help you.?? I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Tanner L O V E S this verse.?? He keeps telling me over and over that it is his favorite and he just lights up when he gets to recite it everyday.?? I wonder if this will stay on his top 10 for all his life??? Wouldn’t surprise me.?? It is Sweetie’s favorite verse too.??

Ty is often being silly during verse time and continually gets reprimanded.?? He takes in more that it seems though and often surprises me.?? This weeks verse is John 14:6:

And Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.?? No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Ty was reciting this after me but he changed it up a bit.

And Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.?? No one comes to the Father EXCEPT FOR FREE. – Ty Jordan Version

I cracked up.?? Since Ty opened the door to the topic, I’ll walk right through.?? Ty may have recited the verse incorrectly but the heart of the matter was cited correctly.?? Salvation is a free gift to us.

Someone explained it once to me like this.?? If an adult, teenager, child, and baby are standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon and are told to jump what will happen??? Inevitabley, the adult will jump further than the teenager, the teenager further than the child, the child further than the baby.?? Ultimately though, they will ALL meet an untimely demise at the bottom of the canyon.?? None of them are capable of clearing that distance in a single jump.?? In a like way, none of us could achieve heaven on our own merit.?? I have often heard people say that they believe they will be in heaven because they are a “good” person.???? Being a good person is not enough.?? The price is perfection and none of us can or ever will be capable of that.???? Christ purchased our place in heaven with his blood – his perfection – his gift.?? When we try to “earn” it we actually mock the cross.?? What ever would make us think we could actually earn HEAVEN in the first place????? Instead, we are asked to humble ourselves before our God, ask His forgiveness and acknowledge our imperfection, and place our belief and full faith in Him and His willingness to save us – ON HIS MERIT.?? Isn’t that huge???

For this reason, Ty’s version moves me.?? We can’t get to the Father…unless we are willing to throw off our false pride in what we cannot accomplish and enter in accepting His gift – except for FREE.

If you want to know how you can have a personal relationship with Jesus you can visit my “adoption story” listed under the adoption section of the www.jimanddoni.com website OR you can always contact me directly.?? Don’t let the moment pass you by because you never know which is your last.

  1. “The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these” Kids just get it so much more than we do, don’t they? I like Ty’s version of that verse, I will have to share that with Matt too. That is Matt’s favorite verse, and I am sure he will appreciate what Ty said.

  2. Amen and amen! God’s gift, like any true gift, is absoluetly free. Ours for the taking. What an offer, given from a King! I thank the Lord for such verses to fill their little minds. “…when they are old they will not depart from it.” Precious promise 😉
