Today starts an 8 day blog of about 35 pictures in Amanda’s pregnancy portfolio.?? The first time I remember meeting Amanda, Aimee was pregnant with Zandi and it was at Zandi’s baby shower.?? Aimee and Amanda were friends in high school.?? Due to Amanda’s connection to Aimee, when Ty was born, Amanda diligently watched our site and prayed for Ty.?? It was during that time that we established??a friendship.?? When Kambrie was born in 2005, I got a call from Amanda in the hospital.?? All those months of “not knowing how I did it” with Ty’s health issues and now her daughter was born with Miller Dieker.?? Now the tables had turned and I was grieving and praying with Amanda.?? In 2006, the Lord allowed me to be with Amanda when He took Kambrie home.?? I remember being captivated by the thought that we were in the presence of angels just behind the veil.?? We have endured much grief together – through Ty and Kambrie and the loss of tiny babies in first trimester miscarriage.???? But now we receive the gift of celebrating together and we choose to take full advantage of it.?? So begins the “Amanda Collection”.
(Heidi – to answer your question about the “inspiration” for the above picture… I saw a wedding picture that had the bride and groom on the right of the picture and then a nice texture added over the top and faded text with the dominant opacity on the left.?? When I was looking at this side profile of her belly, I remembered that picture and thought that a grungy texture overlay and faded font would be perfect.)
I added a trendy muted effect to this one.??
THIS is the pregnancy picture I have been waiting for!
Speaking of trendy….:)
LIFE inside!
You’ll actually get to “see” Amanda tomorrow.?? Today I kept the main thing the main thing – beautiful views of the hidden miracle.
Be sure to leave “love” for Amanda.?? Pregnant women need all the “you look beautiful” affirmations they can get!?? ๐
Tori
Last night we fed her rice cereal for the first time.?? Tanner was??as cute??on the video??as Tori because he kept laughing hysterically at her.?? She had NO idea what to do with food in her mouth so she did nothing.?? She just looked at us with these big eyes and just held the food.?? We continued working with her for about 15 minutes and eventually saw a little bit of smacking action but she is pretty far from “getting” it.?? I tried again this morning and she still can’t figure out what in the world mama is doing to her.
Tanner
Something strange is going on with Tanner and I don’t know what to make of it.?? I need to keep a log of this so when we go to the Dr. I remember the details.
Over two weeks ago we went to lunch with Tom and Kristi and TGI Friday’s.?? Tanner ate a ton of food including some of JIm’s spicy pasta meal and a red pepper soup as well as his own meal (pizza maybe I forget) and a sunday for dessert.?? At the end of the meal he throws his hand over his mouth and starts whimpering.?? We had just gotten past the flu and the rash thing so I was about to be in utter despair if he was getting the flu AGAIN!?? I took him outside because he was CERTAIN he was going to throw up and he paced, held his stomach, and cried for about 20 minutes.?? He never did throw up (much to his surprise) and then all of a sudden it was gone – out of the blue.?? We assumed he just ate too much.
Last week he at two pieces of pizza one night and the same thing happened again.?? He insisted he was going to throw up.?? Said he was nauseous and his stomach hurt (and was holding his stomach).?? Cried and cried.?? Twenty minutes later it was gone.??
Last Saturday morning he woke up at 4:30 AM crying – same thing.?? Jim gave him some water.?? Again it went away in about the same time frame.
It happened again over the weekend but I forget the details.
Last night at about 10:00 PM it occurred again.?? At dinner he had a frozen burrito and a popcycle afterwards.?? I finally gave him 1 tsp of Mylanta and told him to lay flat on his back.?? Within 5 minutes he was perfectly fine however, I probably waited close to 20 minutes before I tried this so was he just at the end of the pain or did it help?
What is the common factor here??? I don’t think it is spicy food because the burritto last night was quite bland and I don’t think he had anything weird last Friday night.?? I am not sure that it is food at all because while of the times it happened directly after a meal, the other half was several hours later.?? Time of day is inconsistent.??
The only thing that is consistent is the level of pain and the length of time it lasts.?? He is getting paranoid about eating too much now so he worries about everything he is eating.?? I read on the internet that sometimes kids get food allergies and react this way – does this go back to the rash discussion??? I am going to keep writing down everything he eats but so far I don’t see a consistent pattern.?? I also read it could be an ulcer but I have no idea how a stress free 6 year old could develop an ulcer.?? He is a happy kid and even though he puts a lot of pressure on himself to do well, he never seems to be truly “stressed”.?? Ulcer’s don’t always originate from stress though so who knows.?? Poor buddy – I am getting worried about him.

ps – i’m completely jealous of your hips amanda! you look amazing! even from the midsection only… you are one of those pregnant women i get totally jealous of. ๐ ๐ ๐ can’t wait to see the rest of the pictures AND that baby! keep cookin’ little one! :)-+
Sounds like it could be acid reflux. My now 6 year old had almost the same exact symptoms last year with no real pattern. Our pediatrician put him on a trial of prilosec and within a few days it stopped. He was on the prilosec for 6 weeks and we have not had it happen again. The pediatrician’s explanation was that sometimes kids stomachs just get off (I can’t remember how he phrased it exactly) and need the short term medication to get everything back in balance. He also went on to say that some kids continue needing the medication for the long term. After the 6 week period, Garrett was taken off of it to see if he would be a short termer or a long termer. Luckily he was a short termer.
My youngest has food allergies and it doesn’t seem to be that unless it could be an intolerance to dairy or an issue with gluten in the foods. Just some thoughts.
I love the pictures and can’t wait to see more. I am so happy for you, Amanda and Matt too. Amanda, you look great. I have a question for you. Have you worn all your regular jeans and pants throughout your pregnancy just unbuttoned? I am debating about whether or not to do that this time around. Looking forward to seeing all of you in the next pictures.
Doni, you are truly amazng. You are the most wonderful gift to so many people. Love all your pictures, have never seen one I did not like. Keep them coming. Cant wait for more.
Hope Tanner is feeling better, poor guy:( I hope you figure it out what ever it could be ๐
you know, looking at some other photography sites, i can’t find one that you can’t keep up with or surpass. it’s a NATURAL gift. sure, you’ve had to put a lot of time into learning photoshope and the features of your camera for manual use… but you have ‘it’ – the ‘x’ factor – the gift – the wow – the missing link… you have IT. and you’re my friend. ๐ lucky me. ๐ GOSH I WISH WE LIVED CLOSER FOR YOU TO DO OUR FAMILY PHOTOS!!!!!!1
I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Doni – they are awesome. And Amanda, you look amazing, looking forward to seeing your face too in the next collection;).
I actually got teary eyed looking at them. The VERY first one is I said a big ohhhh and ahhhh because it is absolutely gorgeous! I agree with everyone Doni you do have the ‘it’ factor,You’ve got it there lady!!! I can’t wait to see more and it’s killing me it will be an 8 day series..can’t you just post 35 pictures in one post?? ๐
As for Tanner’s belly aches. Laini has sort of similiar issues. Once a month she wakes up in the middle of the night crying her eyes out holding her belly, but in her case she DOES puke and sometimes has the shakies. Once she pukes,I give her some pepto and 20 minutes later she’s fine. She usually gets a stomach ache one other time during the month that does’nt end in puking. She actually had an episode last week but only ended in dry heaving a bunch. This has been going on for over a year. The Ped dr. said it wasn’t alarming and says there is no medical issues going on probably too much food. But this happens 4 hours after dinner usually. I do keep and eye on it. It’s gotten a little better latey, probably 2 months inbetween episodes. If you find out what’s causing it will you let me know, cause I’m stumped myself. I wonder if it’s brought on by constipation? hmm..just a thought.
Doni you are amazing! the pictures are beautiful!! i can’t wait to see the rest. I’ll definately have to have you do this for me in the future, if you don’t mind of course ๐ i absolutely LOVE them!
Amanda and Matt – what beautiful pictures and what a blessing this pregnancy is! We are so excited for you and I couldn’t love the pictures more. I had to call Doni BEFORE I even read the post because I was so impressed. I love the first one with the muted writring over the top. How professional does that look??!!! Then I kept scrolling down and oooohhhhing and awwwwing until it ended on the B E A U T I F U L light burst on that little growing miracle. What a precious, precious keepsake. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Love you,
Aunt Beck

doni, i love your pictures. you’ve inspired me to get into manipulating my many photos to have cool borders and do some digital scrapbooking. i love seeing the pictures of the kiddos and reading about them. thanks for sharing with us!
Amanda is glowing and beautiful! Im super impressed with the photography, too. You did a great job.
I just wanted to mention that I have a hiatial hernia and sometimes if I eat too much and it cant get down through my esophagus right away, I get a nauseated feeling and pain. Hope Tanner feels better soon and you can figure out what is causing his discomfort.
