While we are not throwing a first birthday party for reasons I stated in my last post, we do have cause for celebration on something unrelated. This is BIG NEWS!

YESTERDAY THE HOME HEALTH CARE COMPANY PICKED UP TY’S APNEA MONITOR!!!!

The Dr. felt that since Ty had been apnea free since September, that he was ready to be off it!!!! Yeah!!!! The Dr., feeling sorry for me I am sure, agreed to leave his pulse oximeter a while longer. This is because Ty is still on reflux medications and there is some concern that if we wean the reflux drugs, we could run into a problem. Not likely but since the possibility exists, the Dr. thought it was ok for me to watch his night sats a while longer.

In the last month we have weaned Ty from his Fer In Sol and Aldactizide. Next step will be to get him off Reglan and Omeprazole and then we will be drug free! His GI specialist this week wants him on these drugs for a few more months at least. This week he woke from a nap gasping for air which scared the heck out of me. Both the GI specialist and I agree that it was likely due to a severe reflux event blocking the airway. We increased his drugs a tiny bit. Hopefully he will get past this once he is eating solid foods. Slow going on that one.
