Ty’s Zoo Day

We had a fabulous time yesterday at the zoo! In my family, birthday celebrations are family celebrations. When I was a child, my parents would buy gifts for the birthday kid but then buy something small for the siblings. That made birthday’s fun for all 5 of us!

We are continuing on this same tradition…thus the zoo day. Ty could have cared less what we did but Tanner’s favorite place on the whole planet is the zoo. Ty enjoyed the good outdoors (as you will see in his pictures) and big brother loved having a younger sibling to get birthday benefits from LOL!

Ty started coming down with a cold yesterday though and was so miserable last night I had to let him sleep in a swing all night. I am confident he will plunge right through this though so no worries at this point.

Ty gave us a little birthday present too! On the eve of his first birthday, he figured out how to army crawl!!!! Yeah!!! We thought he was a few months from doing this but he suprised us! He mainly uses his arms to pull his body but he has definitely figured out forward movement. Now we can at least say he was army crawling by his first birthday! Good job buddy! I have pictures of our day posted in the gallery if your interested!

  1. Happy Birthday Ty! You have a truly wonderful smile. Glad the zoo was so much fun.

  2. I was wondering how the day went. Sounds like a LOVELY time! I’m glad you had the little excursion to help all of you overcome cabine fever! 🙂 Happy birthday Ty – happy un-birthday Tanner!

  3. Doni, this is Marla from HP (the missionary in Japan). I just wanted to let you know that I have checked your website almost daily for the last year and watched Ty’s journey very closely. I am so in awe today to look at those beautiful pictures of that baby boy! I praise God for Ty and KNOW without a doubt He has big plans for Ty’s life. YOU have been an inspiration to me over this last year as well, THANK YOU for sharing so boldly and honestly your heart with us on this website. God had used your journey to show me so much about what kind of faith and courage it takes to be a mommy!

I just wanted to say Thank you! And Happy Birthday Ty!!!!!!

    Love and continued prayers,
    Marla

  4. Ty, you are one serious lady killer. Doni, you would have fooled me, had you told me Ty was a micro preemie. He looks like one healthy rebel, God bless him. I think you are going to have your hands full for the next 18 years. It’s time your brothers took one step back. Here come Tanner and Ty, dah, daaaah. May your lives be forever beautiful just like today’s pictures show.
Tanner looks more innocent, than baby Ty. Is that possible? Will Tanner be the brains behind Ty’s mischief. Or will Ty arouse Tanner in participating infuture mishcievousness

  5. WAY TO GO TY. WELCOME TO THE CRAWLERS CLUB. Doni, I never thought that you would comment how fast Ty developed LOL. John is my first, in the space of 1.5 months he has talked (well babbled), crawled, stood up, IN GENERAL MADE HIS PRESENCE KNOWN, translation makes a racket, grown two teeth (going for another two now). My mind is reeling at how fast babies grow. Where is my little munchkin that was so innocently sleeping in his moses basket, and there wasn’t enough time in the world for me to just sit and look at him.
