Remember…

I am starting a tradition.?? I want to see my daughter in my dress.?? I want to see how she looks in it at two and three and four…and who knows how many years thereafter.?? To watch her growth as she models mama’s wedding dress.?? A dress that was worn almost 15 years ago when I promised her Daddy forever.?? A promise I intend to keep until death.?? I don’t want my daughter to get married in this dress.?? I want the opportunity to shop with her for her OWN special bridal gown.????But through these pictures…I see the celebration of some of the greatest blessings of my life.?? My marriage.?? My daughter.?? Enjoy.

The only person on the planet who is allowed to taste my dress.?? ๐Ÿ™‚

A good friend of mine, Les Schlect, took our wedding pictures.?? With his permission, I post scanned versions so you can see the dress full size.?? Quality degredation was my scan job – not the photography – just so you know.

I went shopping for a mermaid style but this was the first one I tried on.?? I felt like Cinderella and I had to have it.?? You should have seen my dad’s face when he saw my dress.?? He made me cry.?? He may have loved my dress more than I did.?? I never forget him telling me “That is exactly what I pictured you would be married in”.?? Speaking of weddings…Dusty and Michelle have only FIVE more days to go!?? More pics from this shoot tomorrow.

  1. So precious! And what a great idea. My dress is in my closet and I’ve been thinking I really should do something-sell, donate etc with it. But now I may have to wait until my next little one comes along to make that decision.

  2. doni, i think this is a great idea. it’s a great way to show her growing and connect her to your wedding–when you had no idea she would be in your life. a few of my friends that got married a couple of years ago go out in different seasons, wearing their dresses, and do photoshoots with each other. i think it’s a great way to get more use out of something most people only wear once!

  3. Very precious. My mom just brought my wedding dress over. It had been hanging in her spare room closet since we moved into this house 6 years ago. I have know idea what I will do with it. By the way, I cannot even imagine you in a mermaid style wedding dress. This one was all you. Love the puffed sleeves.

  4. Girl, every girl should have the opportunity to wear a dress like that. It would make anyone feel like a Queen! Tori looks great too, I can’t wait till she is 6 wearing it. Oh I can just tell right now it will be exciting for her!

  5. What a great idea Doni, they will be precious memories year after year. BTW You looked so beautiful in the dress.

  6. this is the BEST idea… i want to echo you one day. ๐Ÿ™‚ oh this is sooo smart. perfect way to embrace your daughter in YOUR dress but to plan to give her the freedom to shop for HER dress. love that. beautiful beautiful beautiful.

you were such an incredible bride… classic and lovely. (boy, doesn’t jim look like such a pup?) ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Doni I love love love the idea that you have with your dress. And by the way what a lovley dress it is. You look soooo beautyful. Can’t wait for dusty and michelle’s wedding.

  8. It is not really nice to post the pictures of losing my first baby the same week I will lose my last. Fortunatley I can’t see it very well anyway, The pictrue is really blurry, you need to work on your scanning technique or clean the lens or something. Will moisture hurt a keyboard?

  9. Doni, I am sooooo in love with these pictures. Tori looks beyond precious. Her white hair bow against that gorgeous blue/black hair and lovin’ on her Mama’s dress is just priceless. I also loved, loved, loved seeing your wedding pics once again. I had forgotten how incredibly beautiful your dress was. It truly was Cinderella (and brother, i.e., Papaz – you’re turning into an old softie!!!!!)
