Sunny Day Rule

??This picture taken outside Grammy Rene’s barn.

??

??Notice how she expertly handles the curbs??? When you have a child with CP, you notice this stuff and don’t take it for granted.??

The Sunny Day Rule is a term photographers use for setting their aperature on bright afternoons.????Mothers also have a Sunny Day Rule and I did not adhere to it today (much to my humiliation later).

Here is the rule.?? Check your kids before they walk out the door – MOST ESPECIALLY if it is??a bright afternoon.

The kids and I had some errands to run this morning.?? I was taking pictures of Ryker this afternoon (yes you will see some later) so I had to get out the door in a hurry.?? When I got downtown, I unloaded the kids and gasped when I looked at my son.?? The good news was – and this is not just good news – this is F A B U L O U S news – Ty dressed himself.?? That is a relatively new thing.?? He still can’t do socks and shoes but is finally managing shirt and pants which is a huge step.?? The bad news??? He was wearing his brown (dirty) puppy t-shirt and a pair of too short black TUXEDO pants.?? Aaahhh!!!!?? In the house, at quick glance, I thought he put on his black sweat pants.?????? The sun revealed a much more interesting ensemble.?? Sometimes you have to just grin and bare it.?? And yes…I did go into Photomark, Lowe’s, and Quiznos.?? Yes people gave us funny looks and probably wondered if I dressed my kids using alley trash cast offs.?????? Sigh…what can you do.?? ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. you do what you did – rejoice that he dressed himself at all and move on. ๐Ÿ™‚ WAY TO GO TY!!!!! THAT IS AWESOME!

(and i’ve had plenty of those “WHAT IN THE WORLD IS HE WEARING!” moments myself with seth. ๐Ÿ™‚ 0h and hey! at least it wasn’t you with 2 different shoes this time… or in my case navy tights with a black skirt and black shoes. ๐Ÿ™‚ )

  2. just thought of something else – i wore two different socks yesterday and seth thought it was pretty funny. uh, yeah, i needed to do laundry. all i had left were a few that had lost their matches. sneakers and long jeans took care of it in public… but what if i’d been in an accident? ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Heidi Jo, you did not mention it was DONI who was wearing the different shoes…to work…on more than one occassion.

  4. ROTFL! Oh that is so cute. I’m sure you didn’t think so yesterday:) but I just LOVE Ty. And if it makes you feel any better, Zane decided to dress himself to go to the store in an Incredibles jammy set (with shorts) that was two sizes too small. He paired it with some skater socks and dude shoes…and needless to say, he got a lot of looks. David thought it was hilarious. I on the other hand cringed that I let him out of the house that way. Sometimes it’s just more important that they dressed themselves though, so way to go Ty!!!

  5. Braxtyn’s new attire includes bathing suits and cowboy boots, I make her put on a skirt before we go anywhere and its usually a ballarina skirt!

  6. She is getting tooo big too fast! We really must learn to slow down the aging of my cutie neice and nephews ๐Ÿ™‚
