Where are the shoes?

My sisters have jinxed me with a shoe child.?? I was so afraid this would happen.?? Why can’t people be satisfied with good ole 10 buck shoes from Payless that you wear until the sole’s fall off??? Or buy Crocs and the soles can’t fall off.?? I may have those shoes forever (which is ironic because Jim hates them).?? Tori will not leave any of our shoes alone.?? She is constantly trying on everyone’s shoes and toting them around the house.?? As a result, I rarely can find a matching pair.?? It is getting REALLY aggravating.?? It is tough to look for a missing shoe when Tori relocated it because there is no guessing where she may have put it.?? She brought me a long absent shoe this week covered in dust and I have no idea where she had it hidden.?? Yesterday she made off with one of Tanner’s shoes at Papa and Sweetie’s and we all searched the whole house for it only to later find it in Raggedy Ann’s lap seated on the trunk.

Today I decided to give the boys room a better cleaning so while Tori was napping (this was key – I can’t organize with her on the loose because she tries to help and undoes all my efforts).?? I emptied their closet (which was a project), reorganized, matched up shoes, and lined them all neatly on the shelf.?? I can safely tell you those shoes have not been in their proper place since before Tori was born.???? I panicked if shoes got put in the closet because it was like a great abyss.

When Tori woke up, she passed the bedroom and noticed a change.?? I watched her walk in there and inspect the place.?? Sometime later when I realized she had never come out of their room, I went to check on her and she had opened their closet and removed the shoes.?? Not only is she amazingly observant, but clearly she did not care for my designated shoe spot.?? What to do with her?

Picked that shirt up at Pumpkin Patch.?? I love their shirts for little boys.?? Isn’t it a great one?

Wasn’t he enjoying this hee hee?

Another BIG mistake I made was to give her a peek into my makeup tackle box (yes my family uses fishing tackle boxes for makeup).?? She was in heaven.?? I sat on the floor, painted her toenails for the first time (she is now 16 months and plenty old enough ;), and we pretended to put blush and lipstick on one another.?? She is very observant so she knew what she was doing and was very serious about it.?? About 30 minutes later, I tried to put the box up and she cried and cried and cried and cried and cried…keep repeating.???? I had to let her call and talk to Sweetie to distract her.?? At 9:50 PM she brought her sippy in and I asked her if she wanted bedtime and she nodded yes.?? She is so much fun and I rather enjoyed our girl time this evening.?? Will be the first of MANY.

AAAA! we can never find shoes around here either. by the way – i LIVE in my crocs flip flops all summer long. they don’t always even match what i’m wearing and i don’t care. life is too short for uncomfortable shoes!!!!)

  2. great pictures of Tanner! He is way too big these days.

I’m glad you get to play makeup with Tori – I can’t believe you waited until 16mo to paint her toes ๐Ÿ™‚

Milli – the dog is responsible for missing shoes in our house these days – only she likes to eat them.

  3. Dear Tanner,

Aunt Becky thinks this photo shoot of yours is simply amazing! You did great poses and I love how great you looked in front of those cars! Don’t tell your mom but before she knows it you are going to be behind the wheel driving – it is a good thing she is taking pictures of you now at each age because you are growing up really fast. Not only are you good looking on the outside, but you are precious on the inside too. I love how much you love Jesus and I think you are a great son and big brother as well! We love you Tanner boy, with all our hearts ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. The photos are amazing! You know this is just the beginning. Just last Sunday I could not find any matching flip flops! And you will start getting weekly reminders to re-paint toes and fingers!
